Job Description

Under general supervision, responsible for moderately complex tasks associated with technical areas within voice services and routine activities relating to the voice network. Maintains PBX/ Voice Systems and associated hardware. May assist in management of voice and data cabling. Provides support to end users for phones and voicemail. Responsible for tracking service requests. Makes phone system additions, changes, and installs new station equipment. Adheres to corporate standards for voice service implementation.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for implementation, support, and maintenance activities pertaining to current and future voice circuits for the enterprise.
• Responsible for insuring the day-to-day operation, reliability, and integrity of the enterprise voice communications network. This includes working with the Network Voice Engineers on the installation, maintenance, and management of all PBX hardware and communications circuits.
• Responsible for maintaining and updating voice equipment inventory records and voice systems problem records.
• Assists in developing budgets (identification and recommendation of items), and procuring communications equipment and supplies.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• An analytical skill set is required while telecom knowledge will typically be obtained on the job.
• Basic PC skills are required.
• Basic understanding of data networking is a plus.
PREFERRED
 
  • Nortel Meridian certifications and/or work experience
  • Cisco Voice certification and/or work experience.
  • Four-year degree in field such as Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Two–year Telecom field support experience in a work environment
