Supervisor (OP Supervisor RDSV) –Imaging – East Orlando

East Orlando seeks to hire Supervisor (OP Supervisor RDSV) who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Facility Profile:

Florida Hospital East Orlando, a 265-bed community hospital, has been serving East Orlando residents since 1941 as an innovative local leader that fills a vital need in a fast-growing area. A recent 200,000 square-foot expansion project upgraded the hospital to 265 beds, with a spacious patient tower and 80 new private rooms designed to enhance the holistic care experience

Job Summary:

Under general direction, is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Imaging Department to ensure smooth and efficient flow. Must be able to handle stressful situations with anxious patients, employees, and customers. Utilizes the hospital performance improvement process to achieve the goals of Imaging services. Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all referring physicians, hospital, and commercial agencies. Meets with customers, partners and team members to ensure service levels are maintained (Rounding). Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Minimum of three years experience as a General Diagnostic Technologist
  • Coordinating experience and/or leading people
  • Knowledge of Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions (Mammography Procedures / Positions for Women’s Center cost centers)
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors
  • Knowledge of Radiographic and Fluoroscopic equipment (Mammography equipment for Women’s Center cost centers)
  • Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner even under stressful conditions
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • If certification is from another agency, certification from AHA must be obtained within 90 days of hire. If hired before July 1, 2014, must obtain “AHA certification” by next renewal, but no later than June 30, 2016.
  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in an imaging or healthcare related field (Preferred)
  • Computer skills in word processing and Email such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment (Preferred)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

  • ARRT ( R )
  • Florida State License – General Radiographer
  • ARRT (M) for Women’s Center cost centers

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists in meeting department budgetary and Clinical Performance Improvement goals. Maintains labor within established labor standards. Effectively recruits and oversees the training and orientation of new employees. [Leadership Expectations]
  • Ensures staff is following the established Image Quality criteria. Counsels individuals when necessary (or applicable) to ensure quality images are achieved. Critiques set number of exams per XR technologist each month and enters this information into Procedure Critique. Communicates clinical information to staff as requested by the Radiologists and the Medical Physicist. (This section does not apply to Women’s Center cost centers) [Image Quality]
  • Supports and assists with data collection for CPI initiatives while understanding the department performance trends and established standards. Contributes and encourages others to contribute toward process improvement by serving on PI teams as assigned. Participates in department and patient satisfaction initiatives. Utilizes patient service recovery resources when appropriate. [Performance Improvement]
  • Meets regularly with Manager/Director to keep them informed of Imaging business. Actively participates on assigned Extending Excellence team(s) and shares information with staff. Provides staff meetings. Attends meetings as requested. [Meetings Attendance]
  • Ensures equipment is in good working condition and contacts appropriate personnel when repairs are needed. Ensures the safety of patients and employees. Adheres to all infection control standards. Is knowledgeable of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect from exposure to chemical, radiation and/or biohazard. Properly wears Dosimeter badge and seeks to minimize radiation exposure. Employee job duties may include transport of pharmaceutical waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area. Employee will be required to complete initial training (prior to handling pharmaceutical waste) and refresher training to include proper handling and transport of pharmaceutical waste, and proper selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment.   • Utilizes knowledge of a full range of imaging procedures, troubleshooting as necessary. Utilizes the knowledge and skills for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective procedures on patients of adult and geriatric ages. Learns/adapts to new technologies and protocols and helps develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers and students. [Clinical Competence]
  • Sets priorities and completes work within expected timeframe. Aggressively supervises the daily operations of the Imaging Department by mediating problems relative to scheduling, morale and other personnel issues. Assumes responsibility for patient flow, exam quality and all other matters pertaining to patient care. Ensures staff rotates to maintain proficiency in all areas. Performs staff Performance Reviews annually. [Personal Productivity and Accountability]
  • Utilizes computer system to maintain employee Time and Attendance records, research patient exams, and ensure proper charges and modifiers are included to capture appropriate revenue. Ensures supplies are available and orders items as needed to maintain par levels. [Data Processing]
  • Women’s Center Cost Centers: Also oversees that the Mammography workflow is coordinated to ensure smooth and efficient flow.
  • Cost Center 3110: Also supervises the Intake Team that is responsible for ensuring accurate and complete scheduling, verification of benefits, pre-authorization and pre-certification of Imaging exams. Serves as the “knowledge expert” for Imaging specific terminology and process. Receives training and is capable of handling all team duties where needed. Provides guidance on training and performance issues. [Patient Intake Supervision]
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
