Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center has provided faith-based, whole person care to the community for more than 65 years. That means we take into consideration the mind, body and spirit when designing each of our services and developing personalized treatment plans for patients. In addition to offering all-private rooms, our campus includes a comprehensive fitness center, community education center, and resource library to help community members achieve optimal health. We also house the area’s largest hospital-based laboratory, radiology services, and comprehensive diagnostic and treatment facilities.
You will be responsible for:
  • Performs all security related tasks as noted in the Post Orders and additional tasks as assigned by Security Manager and keeps Manager apprised of unusual activities and events.
  • Properly utilizes and maintains all issued and operated equipment.
  • Assists House Supervisor and Nursing Supervisors as necessary with activities not directly related to Security operations.  These may include assistance with transport of bodies to the morgue, patient escort within the hospital, and other special tasks as approved by Security Management.
  • Performs facility lockdown as dictated and screens visitors and employees seeking entry after hours.  Learns applicable systems and respond to fire alarms at facility fire alarm panels and to units both during actual alarms and drills and be proficient in helicopter fire prevention and fire response.
  • Exhibits good judgment during critical situations and maintains a professional and authoritative demeanor at all times.  Assesses situations with consideration for age of individuals involved.  Gathers information pertaining to incidents such as thefts, accidents, etc., and accurately completes appropriate documents in the correct format.
  • Intercedes in disputes, both physical and verbal, between persons using verbal de-escalation techniques and skills and defuses potentially violent patient, employee, or visitor situations Able to physically manage combative, violent persons without hesitation using techniques taught in the required annual aggression management training.
  • Operates hospital owned vehicles as a normal part of assigned duties
Qualifications
What you will need:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to physically comply with daily tasks and training requirements
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Previous experience as a security or law enforcement officer (preferred)
  • Formal security officer or, military or civilian law enforcement training (preferred)
  • State of Florida Class D Security License. 
  • Completion of Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) training (required within 90 days)
  • Current Automobile Insurance meeting minimum requirements for State of Florida
  • International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training Certification Program.  (preferred)
  • Driver's License
