Work Hours/Shift:

You Will Be Responsible For:

•       Ensures that physician authenticates all documentation before the physician and scribe leave the patient care area.

•       Prepares referral letters as directed by the physician, via dictation or summary of the medical record.

•       Ensures that letters are mailed or faxed on a daily basis to all physicians involved in a patient’s care, and with all copies of pertinent reports or tests attached. 

•       Research contact information for referring physicians and coordinate referrals.

•       Continuously checks on the progress of this data in order to get the patient’s workup complete so that the physician is able to make treatment decisions regarding that patient.


What You Will Need:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a medical office. 

  • Two years required

    Transcription skills preferred

  • Experience with transcription software and medical coding training or certification are preferred, but not required.

Job Summary:

The scribe is responsible to document the physician dictated patient history, physical examination, family, social and past medical history as well as document procedures, lab results, and dictated radiographic impressions made by the supervising physician.  The scribe also performs all clerical and information technology functions for a physician in the  clinic setting, including primary responsibility for the operation of electronic health records and electronic dictation systems. Primary goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician. This position will have no direct involvement in patient care.  

Must be able to anticipate physician needs to facilitate the flow of clinic. Must be discreet, tactful, and unobtrusive in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care. Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated are especially important. Must be adaptable and versatile. Good attendance is an important element of this job.
