What You Will Be Responsible For:


Float Scheduler

•             Greet and register patients.

•             Verify patient demographic and insurance information.

•             Explain billing policies, collect co-payments, refer patients without insurance to the office/clinic manager and/or financial counselor.

•             Schedule all physician office visits, lab and chemotherapy appointments.

•             Schedule any needed appointments and/or referrals for existing patients as needed. Ensure patient records are sent to appropriate outside agencies as needed for referrals.

•             Provide patient with any pre-appointment special instructions.

•             Contact hospital to schedule patient surgery time per physician instructions.

•             Ensure required testing and appointments are finalized prior to next appointment date or surgery.

•             Answer the telephone in a professional and polite manner, communicate information to appropriate personnel (take messages or transfer calls as appropriate). Respond to voicemail messages promptly.

•             Update information in the computer system for return patients.

•             Interact professionally with physicians, patients/families and healthcare staff.


Patient Account Representative:

•             Verifies all insurance information provided by patients to ensure accurate and complete information per third party payor requirements and department protocols for billing purposes. Enters data into all appropriate practice management systems.

•             Completes authorization requirements by third party payors in an accurate & timely fashion, contacting referring physician offices, patients and insurance companies as needed.

•             Updates patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accurate billing and historic information.

•             Assists with accurate and prompt charge entry for all infusions centers related to office visits, inpatient consults and hospital visits, bone marrow biopsies, lab draws, infusions, chemotherapies, injections, port flushes, etc.

Accurately utilizes correct billing modifiers if necessary.

•             Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of charge entry systems.

•             Demonstrates courtesy, respect and caring to patients, family members, physicians and staff and maintains professional rapport with all external parties and organizations.

•              Actively supports the Mission of Park Ridge Health and interacts with other individuals, groups or departments in bringing the Mission to reality.

•             Accepts other duties as assigned by Office Supervisor and Director, Business Operations.


What You Will Need:


•        Ability to prepare records and documents accurately

•        Good oral and written communication skills

•        Ability to deal courteously with patients, insurance companies, co-workers and others to establish and maintain effective working relationships

•        Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing required.

•        Additional languages preferred  

•        High School Diploma or equivalent required

•        1 year medical office experience required

•        Some college preferred

•        Graduate of an accredited medical billing & collection program with an emphasis on business aspects of healthcare, preferred

Job Summary:


Float Scheduler/Patient Account Representative:  Responsible for registering and/or scheduling patient appointments, referrals performed at the hospitals, physician’s offices, hospice and home health agencies at all Park Ridge Health Infusion Centers for Infusion front office staff who may be on leave or vacation.

Perform other secretarial/clerical/clinical duties as assigned by an Office Supervisor.

In addition, this position will be responsible for timely verification of insurance coverage, completion of authorizations for imaging studies, Low Dose CT Scans, and other ancillary services as required for all Park Ridge Health Infusion Centers.
