Work Hours/Shift:

You Will Be Responsible For:

•      Knowledge and understanding of QI processes, tools and problem-solving methodologies

•    Exhibits skill in analytic fundamentals to include the application of statistical processes, data analysis and reporting.

•      Requires ability for independent, professional judgement

•      Requires effective communication

•      Effective oral and computer communication skills

•      Ability to handle frequent interruptions

•    Ability to handle stress related to interactions with directors, nursing staff, medical staff and administration

•     Critical thinking skills to evaluate variances and come up with actionable items, evaluate those actions, and rectify the issue.

•   Review admissions within the last 24 hours (72 hours on Mondays) for clinical audits and processes

•     Email lists of errors and reminders found in daily review to department managers and directors. Contact physicians if orders are needed.

•      Call any unit that has an issue that may need to be fixed immediately

•      Verify if any procedures listed on corrected copy of the schedule from previous day need to be added to the audit list

•      Send current error list to department managers and directors every afternoon.

•      Give any injections when EH nurse not available.

•      Review any charts sent by HIM for PS or dx verification.

•      Joint Commission audits.

•      Remediate anyone on the list that comes to the office. Update the current error list regarding anyone who came to see us or whose name was emailed to us as remediated by any nurse manager.

•      Attend meetings as required.

•   Weekly rounding on all units regarding any errors or question the nursing staff may have regarding documentation.

•      Assist EH with new hire flu shots during orientation monthly.

•      Complete all abstractions queued monthly

•      Attend all webinars/conference calls.

•      Attend Peer Review/Staffing Effectiveness meeting monthly.

•      Attend nursing unit staff meetings monthly.

•      Complete any new CBL's.

•      Verify all abstraction submissions for CMS/JC are competed and correct quarterly.


What You Will Need: 

•         Associates Degree in Nursing

•         Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred)

•         Registered Nurse in the state of Texas

•         Two years minimum nursing experience

•         Experience in Cerner

•         Experience in OPPE/FPPE programs.

•         Expert use of excel, databases, pivot charts and pivot tables.

•         Experience in medical records and medical data.

•         Experience in working with provider level data and expectations of physician performance.

•         RHIA certification (preferred)

•         CPHQ certification (preferred)

•         HCQM certification (preferred)

Job Summary:

This is a new position to accommodate quality data abstraction and support to improve the OPPE/FPPE program at our hospital. This position will specifically deal with provider quality indicators and facilitate that program of feedback to the director and other hospital leaders.

The Quality Management Specialist, RN is trained in or has a background in quality management, performance improvement and regulatory readiness. Is responsible for reviewing, analyzing driving, and reporting outcomes related to the organization’s preparation and performance in quality, performance improvement and regulatory readiness. Mentors, coaches and educates hospital employees and assists in achieving excellence in federal, state, corporate and facility initiatives.
