You will be responsible for:
  • Rounds on new patients and patients with respiratory modalities.
  • Creates a patient-centered atmosphere that breeds excellent clinical and service outcomes.
  • Assists with patient satisfaction/patient experience to assure patients are delighted with their care.
  • Coordinates patient care plans.
  • Provides clinical services to all patients, regardless of age, race or sex.
  • Oversees respiratory participation in interdisciplinary team meeting with CUSP meetings.
  • Rounds daily with physicians.
  • Receives feedback from staff on ways to improve department.
  • Provides for employee recognition.
  • Assists with regular staff meetings.
  • Fosters a positive relationship with Respiratory Therapists, Medical Division.
  • Fosters excellent interdepartmental relationships and teamwork among departments.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with all team members, patients and families.
  • Meets with clinical staff on an on-going basis regarding feedback on technical and medical staff performance.
  • Conducts staff meetings.
  • Conducts educational sessions for staff, including yearly Respiratory Skills Fair.
  • Sets up orientation plan for each new RT employee.
  • Assesses patient treatment plan for opportunities to assure proper utilization.
  • Monitors charge accuracy daily thru I-Connect.
  • Completes accurate payroll and accurate staffing in required computer program. Completes payroll within required timeframe.
  • Sets up supply pars and reorder triggers – plans for assuring supplies are available to staff at all times.
  • Assures equipment is cleaned appropriately and functional at all times.
  • Implements evidence-based practice and latest respiratory therapy practices.
  • Assures staff receive education and training on new equipment,  policies and treatment.
  • Monitor staff documentation for appropriateness and accuracy.
  • Assures safe environment for patients.
  • Complies with the Employee Code of Conduct.
  • Monitors and conducts compliance activities   within the department.
  • Reports immediately to a Compliance Officer any actual or perceived violation.
  • Assures department compliance with all federal, state and local laws; rules and government regulations.
  • Educates staff as to the requirements of placing Incident Reports into the computer.
  • Assists the Risk Management Department in the identification of risks, the analysis of the causes of incidents and in the investigation of incidents as may be required for legal purposes.
  • Acts as a Risk Management designee.
  • Assures staff are educated on medication administration policies.
  • Prepares proactively for all regulatory surveys.
  • Follows hospital departmental safety policies and procedures.
  • Wears name tag identification and is aware of role in minimizing security incidents.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of role in Hazardous Materials and Waste Program, including procedures to follow in case of spill.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of role in Emergency Preparedness Program. Participates in Disaster Drills, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of role in the Life Safety Program and participates in Fire Drills as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of role in the Medical Equipment Program and how to report malfunctioning equipment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of role in the utility Systems Programs and the department’s response to utility failure.
  • Follows hospital and departmental infection control policies and procedures.
  • Promotes the hospital image and maintains a helpful attitude towards employees, physicians, patients, visitors and the community to enhance the hospital’s reputation as a health care center.
  • Demonstrates evidence of adherence to the hospital confidentiality policy.
  • Turns in assignments on time and with accuracy.
  • Takes the time to research and learn latest trends in respiratory care and makes recommendations to implement timely.
  • Develops sound management skills.
  • Manages conflict and resolves issues personally and departmentally.
  • Adhere to professional dress standards.
  • Demonstrates evidence of continuous professional development:
  • Identifies own learning needs and seeks opportunities for self-growth and career advancement.
  • Attends annual mandatory inservice, required meetings and continuing education.
  • Maintains satisfactory participation and attendance at required and non-required meetings and staff development programs.
  • Oversees clinical implementation of iConnect EMR by RT.
What You Will Need:
  • Graduate of accredited Respiratory Therapy School.
  • National Board of Respiratory, graduate eligible.
  • Minimum of two (2) years management/team leader experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or business area preferred.
  • Five (5) years of Critical Care experience and management experience preferred.
  • RRT license preferred.
  • State of Florida BLS and ACLS, PALS.
