Registration Representative – Sports Medicine & Rehab Clinics

Florida Hospital East Orlando seeks to hire a Registration Representative who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.



Department Profile:

Florida Hospital Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation – Oviedo provides physical and occupational therapy for adolescent, adult and elderly patients for a variety of orthopedic diagnoses ranging from pre- and post-surgical to minor sprains and strains as well as sport specific programs. In addition, this facility provides clinical education for the Florida Hospital Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency Program and offers onsite massage and wellness programs. Our highly skilled team includes therapists board certified in orthopedics and hand therapy.



Work Hours/Shifts:

6:00am- 7:00pm / Monday – Friday (Schedules will vary depending on the needs of the clinics) 

May be Part Time or Full Time


Positions may be offered at any of the 19 Sports Medicine and Rehab centers in Central Florida. Which includes Altamonte, Apopka, Celebration, Dr Phillips, East Orlando, Kissimmee, Lake Mary, Lake Nona, Orlando, Oviedo, Maitland, waterford Lakes, Winter Garden, Winter Park, UCF



Job Summary:

The Registration Representative, under general supervision, registers patients, ensuring patient demographics and account information are appropriate for patient account type as determined by patient’s visit and as directed by Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Leadership. Meets or exceeds accuracy and upfront collection standard goals monthly. Explains clearly and thoroughly the financial assessments, authorizations/pre-certifications, and/or benefit memos on patient accounts to ensure expeditious billing and to protect the financial standing of Florida Hospital. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Adheres to Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.



Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Ability to serve as hospital liaison for patient and family and to use discretion when discussing personnel/patient related issues that are confidential in nature.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills; able to assimilate and react appropriately to a variety of stimuli incoming at one time.
  • Ability to be responsive to ever-changing matrix of needs and act accordingly.
  • Self-motivated and quick thinker.
  • Computer skills including include Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to communicate professionally with an acceptable use of English and spelling
  • Customer service experience (Preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED (Preferred)
  • Medical office experience (Preferred)
  • BLS Certification (Preferred)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Registers patients for all services, ensuring patient demographics and account information is appropriate for patient account type as determined by patient’s visit and as directed by Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Leadership. Responsible for clearly explaining authorizations/pre-certifications, and/or benefit memos on patient accounts to ensure expeditious billing and to protect the financial standing of Florida Hospital.
  • Meets or exceeds accuracy standard goal determined by Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Leadership. Ensures integrity of patient accounts by working error reports daily, entering accurate data, and documenting all attempts made to collect and/or obtain missing documentation.
  • Meets or exceeds upfront collection standard goal assigned to location of responsibility to protect the financial standing of Florida Hospital. Proactively seeks assistance to improve collections. Reviews all collection reports timely, as assigned by leadership.
  • Performs eligibility and benefits verification and re-verification applicable to patient’s visit. Uses utmost caution that authorizations and pre-certifications are correct and as accurate as possible to avoid rejections and/or denials. Maintains a current and thorough knowledge of utilizing online eligibility and pre-certification tools made available.
  • Takes responsibility for current monthly standard of total patient wait time in department, by ensuring all pre-registered and walk-in patient accounts are created and/or completed timely. During peak registration times, supports department by ensuring patients are processed through system protocols quickly, as outlined by Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine customer service escalation plan.
  • Daily prepares to begin work immediately, by being at workstation as scheduled by department leadership to offer continuous patient service and be available for all clinical partners’ registration needs. Maintains schedule flexibility and effective time management by monitoring time and attendance to limit use of unauthorized overtime.
  • Screens and continually assists all incoming telephone calls and visitors to ensure routing to appropriate personnel within department and hospital in an accurate and timely fashion. Monitors patient wait and registration times. Enables center to achieve current standard of patient wait times. Maintains area-specific productivity standards as observed via documentation, by scheduling each patient while following guidelines established by Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Leadership.
  • Oversees prompt faxing of treatment plan of care, Status/Discharge Reports to physician’s office, insurance companies, Work Comp, and other entities as required. Requests signed prescriptions as needed. For Outpatients, Only - Monitors audit error reports and updates Medicare accounts, as needed.
  • Assists staff with patient care, treatment and other tasks by correctly and promptly carrying out assigned activities/duties.
  • Complies with FH Compliance Plan, rules and regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies, and with the standards of all accrediting bodies and payers as evident through documentation reviews, tracers and rounding results. Adheres to HIPAA regulations by verifying pertinent information to determine caller or visitor authorization level before releasing account information.
