Florida Hospital Zephyrhills has provided faith-based, whole person care to our community for more than 30 years. This means we build trust, create belonging and deliver hope, thereby extending the healing ministry of Christ, when caring for our patients. Our 139-bed facility includes an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI, Heart Institute, Primary Stroke Center, emergency department, state-of-the-art operating rooms, Bone & Joint Center, Simpson Breast Health Center and the area’s only Obstetrics Program, The Baby Place, offering family-centered maternity care. Other special services include, a Center for Wound Healing,  CREATION® Health Wellness Center, CREATION® Health Spa, home health, imaging center, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

You will be responsible for:
  • Tours patients, families, and/or significant others pre-delivery.  Provides information on the service and amenities of the Florida Hospital Zephyrhills Obstetrical Unit.
  • Assists patient and family members in Birth Plan development and personal preference sheet.
  • Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital Zephyrhills core values of Integrity and Ethics, Compassion, Accountability to the Team, Respect and Trust, and Excellence as outlined in the organization’s service standards.
  • Maintains working knowledge of Florida Hospital Zephyrhills programs offered to pregnant patients and their families. Offering our resources, educating mothers about programs, assisting with appointments and scheduling for programs such as: Lactation, Prenatal Education, Pediatricians, Anesthesia, Baby safety, etc.
  • Acts as a liaison between the hospital and patients, physician office staff, patient’s families and/or significant others by rounding daily to determine the customer’s need and satisfaction with services provided.  Assists in obtaining needed services. Reports patient, family, and/or significant other concerns to team members, birth advocate, supervisor, and/or Nurse Manager as indicated for resolution.  Actively works on issues that can be resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Triages telephone calls and provides requested information to potential customers in the community. 
  • Compiles patient education material for patient education packets, monitors supply usage and maintains availability of supplies as indicated.  Supplies physician offices with materials as requested.
  • Collaborates with Concierge in patient wish fulfillment
  • Congregational Health Network: Faith Community Nursing- teach CREATION health to community congregations.
  • Serve on at least 1 Board of Directors in community such as Healthy Start.
  • Communicates with courtesy and respect when interacting with internal or external customers.
  • Demonstrates respect for co-workers.
  • Develops positive working relationships and offers support for other regional FHs.
  • Demonstrates organizational commitment standards and values.
  • Assists with facilitating an evidence-based, multidisciplinary, multispecialty approach to care throughout the care continuum.
  • Collaborates with regional FHs to support appropriate navigation of patients (needs ranging from minimal to complex) from the diagnostic phase through treatment planning, medical management and surveillance assuring patient have appropriate, timely, medical and supportive services.
  • Serves as invited as the expert to other regional FHs with current evidence-based practice and new emerging trends in Women’s Health.
  • Develops appropriate relationships to maximize patient experience across regional hospital system, campus and physician/ provider lines.
  • Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork with leaders in managing patient flow.
  • Works with leaders/educators across system to ensure excellence in staff and patient education.
  • Adheres to organizational standards for dress and professional appearance. 
  • Serves as expert for risk reduction through Perinatal Safety Team process.
  • Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services.
  • Collection of comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health/situation and unit specific data for process improvement initiatives including: initial patient assessment within expected timeframe, initiates consults as indicated from database collection, identifies patient/family teaching and discharge planning needs.
  • Analyzes the assessment data to determine expected outcomes and plan of care
  • Identifies expected outcomes for the plan of care individualized to the patient or situation and for unit specific PI outcomes.  Participation in identification of unit specific PI outcomes.
  • The patient’s plan of care is developed, individualized and prioritized daily in collaboration with the patient, family and health team members that is sensitive to the patient’s cultural and spiritual needs and to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements the identified plans for patients and unit specific process improvement with appropriate nursing interventions and physician’s orders in an accurate, timely manner and documents intervention according to hospital policy. Documentation meets criteria for core measure, charges, PI improvement, and all quality/regulatory standards as measured by chart audits.  Coordinates implementation of the plan of care through leadership and delegation appropriate to skill level including but not limited to: LPNs, NTs, CNAs, Unit Secretaries, RTs, PTs. Educates patient/family based on assessed learning needs.
  • Evaluates progress toward attainment of expected patient outcomes and unit specific process   improvement outcomes daily with patient, family and health team members.
  • Maintains safe practice by demonstrating Women’s Health clinical competency and demonstrating compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Ensures safe and effective handoff communications and documentation of such between care givers.
  • Demonstrates safe practice in the administration of medications.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to pain management by alleviating and reducing pain to level acceptable to patient.
  • Integrates ethical decision making into daily nursing practice.
  • Integrates research findings and Evidence Based Practice into practice.
  • Acts as a patient advocate.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills appropriate to level of experience
  • Integrates population specific standards when planning care.
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional and personal growth
  • Develops partnership with Business Development team to support growth of Women’s Health.

What will you need:
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate professionally in the English language: verbally with a pleasant speaking voice and in the written language
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills
  • Obstetrical knowledge and experience
  • Skilled in providing appropriate Breast health care, GYN and OB education and program development.
  • Skilled in communications with multidisciplinary teams, patients, families and surgical teams.
  • Skilled in program development.
  • Experienced in community education & public speaking.
  • Expert in Women’s Health (OB, GYN, Breast) issues and nursing education.
  • Basic computer skills to include Outlook and Microsoft Word. (Preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) (Preferred)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (Preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • 5 or more years of experience in Obstetrics and Women’s Health
  • MSN preferred (Preferred)
  • National certification in OB nursing (Preferred)
