Florida Hospital Ocala opened its doors in 1898 as Marion General Hospital and has been in continuous operation since then. Then in 1928, the hospital was renamed to Munroe Memorial Hospital. Adventist Health System acquired Munroe Regional Medical and renamed it Florida Hospital Ocala in 2018. Florida Hospital - Ocala is situated in the heart of the city, minutes away from a vibrant, growing downtown area.  Ocala is situated in the heart of Marion County, Florida and is surrounded by the beautiful rolling pastures that have come to be known as the horse capital of the world.  The city boasts a genuine appreciation for the arts, a growing economy that’s attracting national businesses and a school system that includes nine schools with magnet designations. Florida Hospital Ocala is a 425-bed acute-care and offers a variety of services including, 24/7 Emergency Care, Diagnostic Testing, Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery, Women’s Services, and Inpatient and Outpatient Therapy. We were named Marion County’s most preferred hospital for overall quality and image and best doctors and nurses for 13 consecutive years (National Research Corporation, 2015/2016). GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position contributes to the mission of the medical center and is responsible for supervisory coverage of the Nursing Department, other patient care areas, and the hospital in general (during off hours).  Responsibilities require knowledge of hospital and nursing policies and procedures, allowing independent judgment in their interpretation.  The Administrative Nursing Supervisor duties include provision of managerial and clinical links with the Director and/or Administrator on Call in the absence of the department Director.  In addition, this position serves as the administrative resource for physicians, staff, patients, and visitors as it pertains to Organizational policies. 


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


Knowledgeable of Organizational and Hospital standards, policies, and procedures.  Serves as a resource for physicians, staff, patients, and visitors.  Maintains professional demeanor in communications with community, physicians, and staff.

  • Provides appropriate feedback to Managers and Directors support Organizational targets for staff satisfaction and performance.  Utilizes effective leadership and coaching skills to promote autonomy and professional growth of staff.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction meets or exceeds organizational targets.  Strives to meet patient, staff, physician, and visitors satisfaction needs
  • Supports the business goals of the organization through effective use of human resources.  Responds to changes in staffing needs in a timely manner
  • Completes appropriate reports for management to ensure that all regulatory standards are met.  In addition, completion of appropriate reports in relation to staffing and productivity targets.
  • Participates in Munroe Organizational Initiatives through the identification of Quality Indicators specific to Staffing and Patient Placement
  • Facilitates collaboration across departmental lines in determining appropriate bed utilization, patient placement, and utilization of human and fiscal resources.
  • Fosters a non-discriminatory climate in resource utilization that demonstrated sensitivity to socio-cultural diversity.
  • Applies knowledge of research findings in staffing and placement practices in the development of innovative ideas for Munroe specific issues in SPPO.

  • Maintains privacy, confidentiality, and security of patients, staff, and organizational data
  • Facilitates collaboration across departmental lines in determining appropriate bed utilization, patient placement, and utilization of human and fiscal resources.
  • Develops, monitors, implements, and revises departmental policies and procedures utilizing evidence based practice.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, experience. 

Basic computer skills, effective communication, demonstrated compassion, excellent time management and problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing;

At least five (5) years acute care RN experience required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

BSN preferred.

Management experience preferred

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

Current FL RN License

BLS and ACLS.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

Certification in ANCC Nursing Administration preferred.
