Our campus features our main hospital, an educational auditorium, a 20,000-sqaure-foot medical office building and another brand-new 54,000-square-foot medical office facility. 

You will be responsible for:
  • Demonstrates “Caring Behaviors” to patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Initiates corrective action for immediate staff performance problems, and notifies Director and Nurse Leader of actions taken or need for further assessment and follow up.
  • Communicates to Administrator-On-Call, for consultative problem solving in time frame appropriate for situation.
  • Provides communication regarding patient complaints and risk situations to leadership for day-to-day concerns that require notification.

  • Investigates and provides timely, appropriate follow-up for feedback on physician and patient concerns.
  • Demonstrates awareness of factors by all of the following:
  • Determines shift staffing needs based on census, patient acuity, and unit matrix.
  • Assures appropriate mix and allocation of staff on the patient care units in compliance with scheduling policies.
  • Demonstrates appropriate utilization of special pay practices and maintains within guidelines.
  • Facilitates patient flow throughout the facility.
  • Addresses barriers that preclude timely discharge of patients pending discharge.
  • Facilitates movement of transfers to lateral or alternative levels of care
  • Works in collaboration with Patient Placement and CV Coordinator to assign patients to appropriate beds/nursing units.
  • Monitors bed utilization/verification on a continual basis.
  • Ensures patients admitted in late evening, are actually transported to the appropriate unit, as early as possible.
  • Verifies actual unit census, so that staffing decisions can be based on accurate patient volume.
  • Performs frequent rounding to monitor appropriate bed utilization.
  • Interfaces with admitted patients waiting for extended periods of time.
  • Assists NRO and Nursing Team in maximizing seasonal and premium pay plans.
  • Approves and signs traveler and agency pay sheets at end of shift worked.
  • Assures end of first shift evaluations are done for contract agency.
  • Collaborates with ED, ED physicians and Admin on call to determine need for bypass.
  • Utilizes appropriate resources for patient advocacy which may include collaboration with and intervention from:
  • Nursing Leadership
  • Medical Staff
  • Case Management
  • Spiritual Services
  • Successfully completes required unit based and organizational annual competency, including cultural competency assessment.
  • Complies with all regulatory agency standards (i.e. The Joint Commission, OSHA):  Assessment of environmental/life safety compliance, Review of other PI initiatives.
  • Demonstrates compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and use of approved abbreviations.
  • Strategize with Nursing Leadership to facilitate patient flow from all portals of entry.
  • Utilize and promote automated placement systems (BMD) to facilitate patient flow.
  • Completes assigned PI data collection.
  • Completes all mandatory educational requirements.
  • Maintains unit based mandatory certification (i.e. BCLS, ACLS).
  • Attends 75% of staff meetings and reviews all meeting minutes if meeting is not attended.
What will you need?
  • Demonstrated initiative and effectiveness in communication, interpersonal relations, creative management approaches, flexibility, planning, and organization.
  • Clinical assessment skills.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with one year in a supervisory capacity in Acute Care
  • Bachelor degree in Nursing or Health related field. (Preferred)
  • MS, Experience in Critical Care or Emergency Department (Preferred)
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Florida or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure by endorsement.
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS (Preferred)
