You will be responsible for:

  • Under the general direction of the Regional Director of Accounting, the Regional Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting in the planning and management of the Accounting functions for the East Florida Region hospitals (the “Region”). 
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Region’s accounting operations, i.e., audit, tax, fixed assets, fiscal controls, etc. or may be the financial coordinator for a large department or subsidiary. 
  • Maintains established standards and protocols of the assigned unit and Florida Hospital goals and objectives. 
  • Responsible for accuracy of the General Ledger
  • Coordinates and oversees monthly closing for all hospitals, entities or departments. (General Ledger)
  • Closes the ledgers each month and at year-end, i.e., preparing and posting journal entries, accruals, reconciling balance sheet accounts. (General Ledger)
  • Responsible for insuring that monthly regulatory, corporate, and internal deadlines are achieved. (General Ledger)
  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly internal financial statements for the Region. (General Ledger)
  • Responsible for the preparation of various other general ledger based reports such as management presentations and budget variances. (General Ledger)
  • Reviews and discusses directly with the Regional Director of Accounting the monthly allowance for uncollectible accounts and contractual reserves for the hospital. (General Ledger)
  • Assists Regional Director of Accounting with day-to-day operations, when necessary. (General Ledger)
  • Reviews and researches questions from Regional Director of Accounting and Department Directors/Managers relating to monthly responsibility reports.  Reclassification entries made as necessary. (General Ledger)
  • Responsible for the hiring of staff for department.  Completes performance evaluations timely and is involved in employee counseling, coaching and termination per policy.  Provides orientation for new employees and ensures compliance with department policy and procedure. Maintains high levels of employee engagement and job performance by providing recognition and opportunities for learning
  • Responsible for oversight of the reconciliation of all bank and investment accounts to the General Ledger on a monthly basis. (Cash)
  • Identifies and coordinates financial reporting and system improvement opportunities to meet management information needs and assets with process development and improvement.
  • Responsible for preparation of documentation for auditors. (Audit/Tax)
  • Responsible for documentation needed to prepare income tax returns. (Audit/Tax)
  • Reconciles audit and tax returns to internal documents. (Audit/Tax)
  • Oversees preparation of UBI reports. (Audit/Tax)
  • Reviews/prepares Auxiliary, Foundation and FMHN monthly financial statements. (Subsidiary Accounting)
  • Prepares documentation for auditors and tax department for income tax and audit. (Subsidiary Accounting)
What will you need?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field required as well as additional knowledge in Healthcare accounting and contractual allowances. 
  • Five years related experience in hospital accounting with minimum three years of supervisory experience. 
  • Experience managing a team of 5 or more FTE’s
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records, prepare complex spreadsheets using Excel
