You Will Be Responsible For:

•              

•         Oversight of day to day functions and activities of Peer Review and Mortality Learning System to ensure consistent and timey operations.  This includes accurate process deployment, documentation and data entry related to the physician peer review process

•         Liaison to medial staff leaders and hospital administrators in addressing concerns related to physician performance, clinical competence, and/or code of conduct and ensures concern is process through correct committees

•         Oversight Accreditation Body responsibility – Medical Staff Chapter pertaining to the Physician Peer Review Process and Patient Rights

•         Oversight for departmental and physician specific data collection, method of data abstraction and report formats as necessary to facilitate a consistent reporting process

•         Developing, coordinating, and administering hospital-wide systems for risk identification, investigation, and reduction

•         Ensuring facility compliance with applicable accreditation requirements and federal/state laws/regulations including Florida requirements for an internal risk management program, including investigation/analysis of events and mandated state reporting

•         Collecting, evaluating, and distributing relevant data concerning patient injuries including aggregate data summaries, and trend analysis

•         Response and monitoring of patient complaints/grievances ensuring adequate inquiry, resolution, and trend analysis.

•         Oversees Root Cause Analyses (RCA2) for incidents and variances. 

•         Collaborating with Regional and AHS risk management personnel, facility leadership, and assigned counsel to coordinate investigation, processing, and defense of claims against the hospital, including maintaining claim files and trending data/information

•         Interacts as primary contact with FHW Medical Staff Officers, CMO, and Medical Staff leaders on concerns relating to the investigation and analysis of identified significant clinical events

•         Providing/participating in risk management staff education, including dissemination of information on relevant legislative and regulatory changes

•         Developing and assisting in the development of facility policies, procedures, and protocols dealing with patient rights, patient safety, and patient care assessment, risk management, and performance improvement

•         Leading and participating in facility risk management, patient safety, peer review and performance improvement programs/initiatives

•         Prepares quarterly and annual Board report and direct precepts and supports data analytics to support Risk Management, Peer Review, and Patient Safety Organization 

•         Provides direction and implementation of the Patient Safety Evaluation System (PSES) consistent with requirements of the Patient Safety and quality Improvement Act of 2005 (PSQIA)

•         Provides oversight of the PSES Component Inventor and data management, including processes related to permissible disclosure, reclassification, and removal of Patient Safety Work Product

•         Maintains confidentiality of Patient Safety Work Product in compliance with the Florida Hospital water Patient Safety Evaluation System 

•         Provides consistent, up to date information to Executive Director on Risk Management issues, claims, Peer Review, Mortality Learning System, and Patient Safety Organization.  Escalates critical events and issues to Executive Director promptly     

•         Collaborate and act as a resource to colleagues and all hospital departments

•         Participate and lead out as needed in Central Florida North Region calls, meetings and initiatives       

•         Completes evaluations of direct reports timely

•         Facilitates annual patient safety culture and Leapfrog survey

•         Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

•         Minimum of 3 years’ experience in acute care setting with responsibility for occurrence/grievance management, proactive loss prevention/control, and professional liability claims management, experience in management or successfully facilitating significant quality and/or safety initiatives   

•         Minimum of 1 year of experience as a facility Patient Safety Organization Liaison or equivalent experience working with Patient Safety Organization

•         2 years management experience

•         Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or another healthcare related field or currently enrolled in bachelor’s degree program

•         Experience in coordinating accreditation/licensure activities for a successful review

•         RN or other clinical licensure

•         CPPS or achieve within 12 months of hire

•   BSN preferred (Preferred)

•   Six Sigma training (Preferred)

•         Health Care Quality Management (HCQM) certification (Preferred)

•         Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) (Preferred)


Job Summary:

The Professional Services manager, in collaboration with the Executive Director of Quality and Professional Services, seeks to identify, analyze and document the risks associated with the hospital’s operations as well as monitor the effectiveness of processes and implement needed changes to mitigate associated risks.  Serves as a liaison between Florida Hospital Waterman, Central Division North Region and AHS Corporate Risk Department. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.   The Professional Services Manager assists in and oversees day to day activities of Risk Management, as well as provides direction and oversight to operations related to Peer Review, Mortality Learning System, Patient Safety Organization, Risk and claims management.
