Production Cook– Winter Park – Full Time 

Winter Park seeks to hire a Production Cook who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Chartered in 1951, the hospital has grown from the visionary efforts of a handful of Winter Park residents and community leaders, to a 307-bed acute care facility that is a model of community health and wellness. Over the years the hospital has continually expanded to meet the needs of the community, adding an upscale obstetrics and Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place, cancer care at the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute, Winter Park, and state-of-the-art surgery, recovery and rehabilitation at the Florida Hospital Orthopedic Institute. Department Profile:

We promote health and healing by nourishing with compassion. The Nutritional Services Department at Winter Park Memorial Hospital provides quality meals and service to our patient population utilizing a room service concept. Our friendly meal hostesses deliver meals to patients designed to comply with physician directed diets to encourage healing and well being. Our staff of over 50 food service professionals take pride in providing nourishing meals to not only our patient family, but also the our staff, visitors and physicians at WPMH.



Work Hours/Shifts:

Generally working 8 hour varied shifts between the hours of 5 am - 9 pm. Must be able to work weekends (Saturday and Sundays ) 



Job Summary:

Actively participates in an outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Under the direction of the Managing chef, responsible for preparation of all foods and related items for cafeteria and\\or catering customers and\\ or food for patients. Ensures that all food production is produced according to recipe specifications and proper procedures. Ensures that all products meet standards for quality, taste, appearance and freshness. Records product temperatures and monitors holding times as appropriate. Meets all production deadlines. Demonstrates cost conscious behaviors in all aspects. Adheres to all sanitation, safety, cleanliness and food storage standards. Assists with serving customers and provides world-class customer service.



Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English well to effectively communicate and interact with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to follow, read and write recipes as needed .
  • Bilingual in Spanish (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Preferred)
  • Food Service line cook or lead cook experience (Preferred)
  • High School diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
  • ServSafe or equivalent (Preferred)

  • None

  • Minimizes food waste by preparing the amount needed, without running out; ensures proper portioning.
  • Is proactive to prepare substitutions for foods that may run out; effectively and proactively communicates those shortages and substitutions to the appropriate people.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure a smooth operation of the department.
