Production Cook– Altamonte Springs –  Full Time

Located north of Orlando in the community of Altamonte Springs, our facility is consistently named “Best Hospital” for overall quality, reputation, doctors and nurses by local residents. As the largest satellite campus within the Florida Hospital system, Florida Hospital Altamonte has been providing state-of-the-art healthcare to the community since 1973. The recently expanded 377-bed hospital cares for more than 168,000 patients a year. Department Profile:

The Nutritional Services department at Florida Hospital Altamonte is a fast-paced environment serving more than 2,500 meals per day. We exemplify the Altamonte Difference in our patient services, retail services (cafés and catering), and clinical services by living our mission to promote health and healing by nourishing with compassion



Work Hours/Shifts:

Generally working 8 hour rotating shifts between the hours of 7 am - 9 pm. Must be able to work weekends (Saturday AND Sundays). 



Job Summary:

Actively participates in an outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Under the direction of the Managing chef, responsible for preparation of all foods and related items for cafeteria and\\or catering customers and\\ or food for patients. Ensures that all food production is produced according to recipe specifications and proper procedures. Ensures that all products meet standards for quality, taste, appearance and freshness. Records product temperatures and monitors holding times as appropriate. Meets all production deadlines. Demonstrates cost conscious behaviors in all aspects. Adheres to all sanitation, safety, cleanliness and food storage standards. Assists with serving customers and provides world-class customer service.



Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English well to effectively communicate and interact with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to follow, read and write recipes as needed .
  • Bilingual in Spanish (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Preferred)
  • Food Service line cook or lead cook experience (Preferred)
  • High School diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
  • ServSafe or equivalent (Preferred)

  • None

  • Continually checks food for quality, taste, appearance and freshness. Takes corrective action when needed.
  • Minimizes food waste by preparing the amount needed, without running out; ensures proper portioning.
  • Is proactive to prepare substitutions for foods that may run out; effectively and proactively communicates those shortages and substitutions to the appropriate people.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure a smooth operation of the department.
