Job Description

More than 500 board-certified physicians, 200+ mid-level providers, and 1,500 clinical and support staff in over 40 specialties provide patients with a broad range of medical and surgical services. Practice Administrator
JOB SUMMARY
The Practice Administrator is responsible for the overall success of one assigned medical specialty practice at one or more locations with ten or more providers.  This individual provides the leadership, direction, administration and coordination of all medical office activities except those directly involving professional medical judgment.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
 
Must be able to sit, walk, climb, stand, turn, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, lift at least 25 lbs., carry, finger, hold, talk, see with a good field of vision, and hearing; Communicate on the telephone and directly with nurses, doctors or MA’s; read paperwork, printouts and computer screens; Requires manual dexterity sufficient to maintain files, operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other small desk equipment and computer.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of policies and procedures of various physician specialty practices sufficient to direct practice operations. Knowledge of insurance billing and collections.  Knowledge of fiscal management.  Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements.  Knowledge of human resources management techniques, principles and practices.  Knowledge of computer programs and applications.   Skill in exercising a high degree or initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve organization objectives.  Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action. Skill in using computer software to include word-processing, spreadsheets, database and general accounting.  Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, policy making bodies, third party payers, patients and the public.  Skill in organizing work, making assignments and achieving goals and objectives.  Ability to assume responsibility and exercise authority over assigned work function.  Ability to establish and maintain quality control standards.  Ability to organize and integrate organization priorities and deadlines.  Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports.  Ability to develop and initiate, in conjunction with corporate management and physicians, strategies for growth and development.  Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both writing and verbally.
 
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor’s Degree is required.  Major in Health or Business Administration preferred. Master’s Degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of related experience is preferred.
