Work Hours/Shift:

You will be responsible for:

  • Provides skilled physical therapy interventions based on the physical therapist's plan of care in accordance with state practice act, insurance guidelines/requirements, and accreditation agency requirements.
  • Provides therapeutic exercise and activity to develop strength and endurance and functional performance.
  • Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the age of the patient served.
  • Documents in accordance with insurance guidelines/requirements and acceptable practice act standards and posts charges accordingly.
  • Communicates with supervising physical therapist for direction and clarification when concerns are noted.

What you will need:
  • Must be proficient in computer use, and comfortable with the EMR.
  • Successful completion of an accredited physical therapy assistant program
  • AS degree of Physical Therapist Assistant
  • Current professional license in state of Florida
  • Current BLS

Job Summary:

The physical therapist assistant’s primary responsibility is to carry out the treatment plan established by the physical therapist for the rehabilitation of patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes.  Their intervention is purposeful and skilled utilizing the therapeutic application of physical and chemical agents, exercise and other procedures to produce changes in the condition consistent with the diagnosis and prognosis.  They interact and practice in collaboration with a variety of both healthcare and non-healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, government agencies and third party payers.

The Physical Therapist Assistant participates in carrying out the objectives of this service by performing duties which are commensurate with his / her education and which are delegated to him / her by the supervising Physical Therapist.  Duties are carried out within the framework established by the Department of Professional Regulations as promulgated within Standards of Practice and in full compliance with standards as set forth by the various regulatory agencies.
