You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Responsible for coordinating training for all new transporters
  • Creates monthly schedule for direct reports in a timely manner and manages PDO and leave requests
  • Posts open positions, interviews and hires new staff as needed
  • Manages budget for Patient Transportation Dept.
  • Updates and approves all payroll bi-weekly
  • Orients new staff in department and orients them to hospital
  • Completes annual evaluations for Lead Transporters and Patient Transporters
  • Works in close collaboration with department heads to coordinate transport within facility, assisting in any process improvement plans.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to ensure DeLand’s standard of care is met.
  • Serves as primary dispatcher when triaging transport requests if Lead is not available.
  • Coordinates with radiology and nursing staff regarding patient transport. 
  • Coordinates with CMU if patient is on telemetry.
  • Ensures proper method of transport by communicating as needed with nursing staff.
  • Follows proper procedures when transporting patients
  • Moves patients to and from stretchers and wheelchairs, as needed. Moves patients from bed to wheelchair, as necessary.
  • Assist others in lifting and moving of patients.

Qualifications
What You Will Need:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Exceptional communications skills to work with patients from infant, childhood, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
  • Excellent customer service skills required and ability to exemplify the AdventHealth Service Standards.
  • Must be able to use computer for patient information and basic department clerical functions.
  • Ability to lead a team, coach for improvement and recognize positive behavior.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.  
  • Previous experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Supervisory experience

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • CNA/nursing assistant experience preferred.

Job Summary:

The Supervisor of Patient Transportation leads the transportation team including all Lead Transporters and Patient Transporters.  Additionally, this supervisor performs patient transport duties for all areas of Nursing and Radiology; transferring patient to appropriate transport vehicle and transports patient to and from patient rooms.  This position will report to the Director of Guest Relations.
