AdventHealth Maitland seeks to hire a Operational Cerner Patient Accounting (CPA) Support Coordinator who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Job Summary:

The Operational Cerner Patient Accounting Support Coordinator serves the Revenue Cycle team by assisting in planning and coordinating all activities related to the integration of Cerner Patient Accounting (CPA) build and design related operational processes. Works and communicates under general supervision of the Senior Manager and the guidance of the AdventHealth Leadership. Serves as a liaison and utilizes expertise in application logic while providing both operational and technical guidance. Monitors areas for process improvement and is actively involved in future planning and strategic development. This includes report development, program development, ongoing audits and quality improvement efforts. Consistently communicates and reports assignment status to management and involved team members, tracks assignments against proposed timelines, updates plans to reflect current progress, and escalates issues in need of further attention to the appropriate area with detailed and accurate information. Adheres to AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.



Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of Cerner Patient Accounting, Cerner Registration, Cerner reporting tools, PowerChart Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and healthcare regulations
  • Ability to manage assignments and ensure timely/accurate completion of project milestones, in order to ensure on-time assignment delivery
  • Self-motivated, self-confident and adaptable with a focus on customer service
  • Ability to use discretion when discussing personnel/patient-related issues that are confidential in nature, responsible to ever-changing matrix of hospital needs and acts accordingly
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to perform without close supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure and stress
  • Critical thinking skills for troubleshooting and developing options
  • Ability to research and communicate interpreted data (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of system testing and quality assurance methodologies (Preferred)
  • Technical knowledge of current software solutions including report development (Preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare field with 1 year working experience in Revenue Cycle Operations and/or System Support team or at least four years of working experience in Revenue Cycle Operations and/or Revenue Cycle System Support Department
  • One year of experience with Cerner Patient Accounting
  • Experience documenting workflow design (Preferred)
  • Experience managing projects and/or Six Sigma Lean Training (Preferred)
  • Change Management Certification (Preferred)
  • Experience coordinating Cerner Upgrades and/or system implementation (Preferred)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Researches and addresses all Unassigned Work Items including communicating with both Revenue Cycle and Clinical Leaders for determining appropriate reassignment of Work Items and updates needed to the Supervisor Hierarchy.
  • Serves as the organization-wide content expert on Cerner Patient Accounting. Accountable for creation of comprehensive plans, encompassing operational deliverables related to Cerner Patient Accounting Work Items, Assignment Rules, and Claim Rules development and issue resolution. Works in partnership with Revenue Cycle Operations, Corporate Patient Financial Services and AIT in:
  • Defining specifications
  • Capturing Justification and Prioritization
  • Submitting Build to AIT
  • Testing and Deployment
  • Responsible for all communication throughout the deliverable’s life cycle. Provides technical and operational guidance and oversight of necessary tasks. Communicates verbally, in writing, or in presentation format, to all levels of Leadership.
  • Identifies opportunities for revenue improvement, automation, or issue resolution. Creates and provides data to drive outcomes. Analyzes operational requirements and system capabilities. Maintains operational knowledge of Revenue Cycle processes, applying that knowledge in the development of future state processes, as well as, in the analysis of current state issues. Develops and updates operational process flows.
  • Coordinates any changes or updates needed to CPA related to Financial Class or Health Plans with Revenue Cycle Payor Analyst or designated representative.
  • Interprets any changes related to regulatory requirements and provides appropriate solutions to address those items.
  • Aids with new functionality development with AIT, Cerner and Revenue Cycle Operations. Supports test planning, script development, execution and defect management for all appropriate CPA test cycles, including installations, upgrades, Revenue Cycle vendors and related projects.
  • Supports and collaborates with Education Teams across the organization to enhance or update appropriate training programs. Provides education and helpful guidelines to Department Leadership for Work Items, Assignment Rules, and Claim Rules. Performs audits of CPA Work Items, Assignment Rules, and Claim Rules on a routine basis.
