Job Summary:

The Nurse Manager of Institute Registry & Outcomes, in collaboration with Institute and Physician Leadership, is responsible for improving Institute-related outcomes and overall value of care across the AdventHealth Central Florida Division South (CFDS). This nurse leader is a collaborator with strong emotional intelligence to lead the formation of interdisciplinary teams and support the Institute related accountabilities. The Manager is responsible for clinical outcome metric evaluation, strategy implementation, and accountability follow up with Institute and campus leadership to improve outcomes. Responsible for ensuring compliance with specialty regulations by serving as the clinical content expert on federal, state, and national clinical registry regulations. Responsible for managing all aspects of the clinical outcomes and registries, as assigned, across CFDS region. Provides consultation and clinical subject matter expertise to other institutions across AdventHealth to help drive standardization and improve patient outcomes. Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peer and colleagues and collaborates with all levels of nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, physicians, educators and other stakeholders. The Manager actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, PowerBI, and Visio) (Preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of CMS, DNV and State Regulatory requirements for specialty based clinical programs(Preferred)
  • Knowledge of clinical registries, such as: American College of Cardiology (ACC) National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR), American College of Surgeons (ACoS) National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP), Get with the Guidelines (GWTG), and Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Database(Preferred)
  • Quality improvement knowledge include but not limited to CMS outcomes, Value Based Purchasing, Bundle Payment, NHSN Outcomes and other quality improvement initiatives(Preferred)
  • Graduate of school of nursing (RN)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other healthcare related discipline
  • Six years of acute care, critical care or other relevant nursing experience
  • Two years progressive leadership experience
  • Master’s Degree in a Business and/or Healthcare-related discipline (MBA, MHA, MSN, etc.) (Preferred)
  • Supervisory/managerial experience (Preferred)
  • Clinical experience working in a quaternary care hospital system (Preferred)
  • Experience with managing national clinical registries as referenced above(Preferred)
  • Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR) Training(Preferred)
  • Data analytics experience, including data analysis and registry harvest(Preferred)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

  • Current, valid State of Florida license as a registered professional nurse (RN)
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) (Preferred)
  • Certification in a Performance Improvement methodology such as: Lean, Six Sigma, Change Management, and/or Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) (Preferred)
  • Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR) Certification(Preferred)
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) Certification(Preferred)
  • Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) Certification(Preferred)
  • Stroke Registered Nurse (SCRN) Certification(Preferred)
  • Operating Room Nurse (CNOR) Certification (Preferred)
  • Oncology Nurse (ONCC) Certification (Preferred)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates, through behavior, AdventHealth Orlando’s service standards.
  • Responsible for serving as the Institute clinical content expert for CFDS region on CMS, State, and national registry and clinical evidence-based guidelines. Provides consultation to AdventHealth corporate office and other AdventHealth hospitals to standardize and identify clinical best practices on clinical outcomes management across Institutes.
  • Responsible for clinical outcome metric evaluation, accountability, and process improvement. Drives performance metrics, analyzes data trends, and coaches nursing teams to improve performance. Direct oversight and administrative monitoring of clinical outcomes and clinical process measures for standardization working with staff and leaders for consistent positive patient outcomes.
  • Leads Institute Quality and Outcomes committees across system (as assigned) with hospital and physician leadership to improve quality and value, in alignment with the organization’s strategic imperatives. Provides continual analysis of quality, cost and outcomes data to identify areas of opportunity for improvement. Leads members of the inter-disciplinary team in best practice reviews, performance improvement, and action plan development to address gaps in quality of care. Responsible to implement changes to clinically exceed national benchmark performance.
  • Responsible for maintaining clinical knowledge of guidelines by attending national conferences, continuing education programs, and evidence-based literature and guideline review.
  • Responsible for managing clinical operations for the outcomes and clinical registries. Ensures that the all outcome data accurately represents the quality of care provided by AdventHealth facilities. Responsible for accurate public reporting of clinical registry outcomes, across CFDS.
  • Responsible for managing Institute related CMS, Department of Justice (DOJ) or National Registry audits within CFD South. Collaborates with Institute leadership to develop and submit corrective action plans to correct any deficiencies identified during the audit process to ensure compliance and uninterrupted reimbursement from accrediting bodies.
  • Responsible for overseeing internal and external IT registry systems to guarantee accurate aggregation of quality outcomes. Collaborates internally with AIT to implement software and validation of system functionality. Externally works with vendors to ensure data transmission and responsible for developing strategies for resolution of any data compatibility related issues.
  • Evaluates nursing staff by direct observation, peer review, employee input, documenting this as part of ongoing and annual performance evaluations. Incorporate positive disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Manages nursing team and employment decisions, champions a diverse workforce. Develops succession planning for team, including own position; identifies high performing staff and actively mentors others into leadership roles within the Institute Value team.
  • Develops and implements clinical educational plans on clinical registry outcomes, process changes and regulatory requirements to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Responsible for maintaining a professional work environment that organized and structured to achieve job responsibilities. Responsible for ensuring all patient information is protected per privacy policies and HIPPA regulations.
