Work Hours/Shift:
7AM-3PM or 6AM-2PM W/Weekends
You Will Be Responsible For:

Operates the Nuclear Medicine gamma camera, counters, computers, probes, scanners and other related equipment.
2.    Reviews with nursing personnel the preparation and procedure to be performed on patients.
3.    Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients using sterile technique. This includes therapeutic doses.
4.    Performs such procedures as organ imaging, both static and dynamic, physiological tracer (function) studies and radio assay studies.
5.    Prepares exam room for patients and insures that needed supplies are at hand for each procedure.
6.    Explains to the patient/family member the procedure and answers any questions relative to the procedure.
7.    Monitors the patient in the scan room during the procedure.
8.    Reviews image with Radiologist upon completion of the procedure.
9.    Assists in the development of new techniques and procedures.
10. Assists the health physicist when needed.
 
B.   Performs Quality Control
1.    Performs daily quality control on the Nuclear Medicine equipment.
2.    Performs equipment calibration and minor repairs as needed.
3.    Maintains equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
4.    Reports all equipment failure or problems to the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor.
C.  Performs Quality Assurance
1.    Performs all Quality Assurance activities as recommended by the Hospital and JCAHO.
2.    Helps to maintain the policy and procedure manual
3.    Completes history and physical form on each patient
4.    Documents the radiopharmaceutical and amount given to each patient.
5.    Provides radiation protection to the patient or any other persons in accordance with prescribed safety standards
6.    Participates in decontamination of radionuclide spillage, should one occur
7.    Observes and insures safe practices for all patients, visitors and personnel.
8.    Completes the Hospital incident report for any problems that occur with patients or procedures performed on patients.
9.    Attends staff meetings, patient care meetings as requested in order to keep abreast of all Hospital and departmental changes
D.  Age Specific Standards
1.    Provides Nuclear Medicine procedures to all patients, regardless of age, race or sex.
2.    Patient population includes patients of all ages from infants through the geriatric population
3.    Demonstrates ability to interpret age specific data, plan and implement Nuclear Medicine procedures based on interpretation of findings
E.   Follows Radiation Protection Guidelines
1.   Wears TLD badge daily.
2.   Provides radiation protection to the patient or any other persons in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
3.   Reviews quarterly radiation exposure reports.

What You Will Need:
   High School graduate or equivalent upon hire
•         Completion of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
 
•         ARRT Radiologic Technology preferred
•         BS Radiologic Technology preferred
 
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
 
•         Current Florida State license in Nuclear Medicine or Radiologic Technology upon hire
•         Current certification with ARRT or NMTCB upon hire
•         Basic Life Support Certification upon hire
One hour of Hip & Knee replacement education within 6 months of hire date, then annually
Job Summary:
Performs work in one or more divisions or areas of the clinical laboratory to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
