You will be responsible for:
  • Communicates with courtesy and expediency when interacting with internal or external customers—in person or on the telephone.

  • Accurately identifies cardiac arrhythmias and all pacer rhythms.
  • Reports and documents life-threatening arrhythmias to the appropriate RN
  • Identifies components necessary to operate telemetry equipment and/or correct pattern.
  • Telemetry Tech will interpret rhythm strips [including PR, QRS and QT measurements] at the start of his/her shift for each telemetry patient and validate with the RN.
  • Maintains current, accurate telemetry log with FIN number (#) and other essential information according to FH Carrollwood standards.
  • Checks email each shift to stay current on operations and unit communications.
  • Adheres to organizational standards for dress and professional appearance.
  • Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in assisting with patient flow-i.e: communicates with bed placement and / or nursing supervisors for admission transfers and discharges.
  • Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost and impact on practice.
  • Performs unit tasks supportive to patient care and operations of the department as assigned or requested.
  • Prioritizes responsibilities and utilizes time effectively to accomplish duties in necessary timeframe.
  • Maintains accurate Spectralink/phone contact numbers for communication.
  • Coordinates all breaks with Leadership team.
  • Responsible for cleaning all telemetry equipment with hospital approved disinfection process after each patient or more frequently if directed by RN.
  • Takes appropriate action when emergency/urgent situations arise.
  • Communicates appropriate patient information to other hospital departments, staff, and physicians.
  • Assist the physician and other staff with data retrieval
  • May act as preceptor for new unit staff members providing clear instructions on administrative tasks/duties required on unit.
  • Ensures safe and effective shift handoff; to include verification of telemetry monitor and cable count.
  • Completes all mandatory educational requirements. Attends 75% of unit staff meetings and reviews all meeting minutes if meeting is not attended
What will you need:                                                            

• High School education or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a Novice arrhythmia class within 30 days of hire.
• Obtain and/or Maintain CRAT certification (Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician)
• Prior related work experience in a healthcare environment (preferred) that provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Working knowledge of and ability to use personal computer and perform data entry.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to quickly learn and successfully complete a competency skill check off list within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible workweek including weekends, nights and overtime as required.
• Previous experience as a Monitor/Telemetry Tech in an acute care hospital setting OR completion of similar course acceptable to the Hospital.
