Materials Management Lead, ED – Emergency Department – East Orlando

Materials Management Lead, ED seeks to hire a AdventHealth East Orlando who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

AdventHealth East Orlando, a 293-bed full service community hospital that serves as one of AdventHealth’s seven satellite facilities, became part of the AdventHealth system in 1990. Department Profile:

The East Orlando Emergency Department has 80 treatment areas and sees over 104,000 patients each year, ranging from infants to geriatric. AdventHealth East Campus Emergency Department is an academic medical center providing Post Graduate training for Physicians (3 medical residencies). Our ED is also a clinical training environment for Nurses and Ancillary Support Personal. M-F, 8a-5p

Job Summary:

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Under general supervision, the Materials Management Lead is assists and supports the Emergency Department with all supply / materials functions. Generates requisitions for special orders; tracks and receives specific assigned special order items; and manages inventory and adjusts par levels when necessary. Responsible for oversight of all repairs. Assists with the department’s capital equipment process. Reviews reports and data related to supplies and charges to ensure accuracy and completeness. Contributes to development of action plans for supply cost savings and management. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Trains and acclimates new volunteers in basic health care practices to ensure their safety and that of the general Emergency Department population.



Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively to carry out job requirements
  • Organizational skills (preferred)
  • Ability to manage stress and handle challenging situations and personalities (preferred)
  • Current knowledge of Medical Terminology or completion of hospital approved course (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of Inventory Control concepts (preferred)
  • Microsoft Office (preferred)
  • 1 year of healthcare related experience
  • Previous material management or hospital experience
  • High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent



Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

  • Florida State License-EMT, CNA, Medical Assistant, or Paramedic



Job Responsibilities:

  • Takes the initiative in maintaining high standards and quality in the facilitation of cost savings and containment. Collaborates with department leadership on a regular basis to review budget cost and future projection of department expenditure requests and needs.
  • Acts as a liaison between departments regarding orders, costs center discrepancies and various material management issues. Ensures vendors are educated regarding AdventHealth Policies and Procedures. Monitors warranties relating to stability and durability of new products.
  • Works with AdventHealth Systems Material Management to ensure that all department inventory stock supplies have the appropriate MPC numbers. Works with leadership to set and maintain par levels for inventory.
  • Manages the inventory of items specific to the Emergency Department. Reconciles all Emergency Department requisitions with deliveries. Utilizes computer system for tracking, receiving and returning merchandize.
  • Processes department repairs, loaners, and special orders. Researches request for consideration of introducing new items within the budget.
  • Participates in the training and orientation of new materials/supply personnel, volunteers and Search Project Participants. Works closely with the Project Search Manages to evaluate and grade participants as they work in the ED to acquire employability skills.
  • Attends meetings and participates in projects as per the direction of the ED Director/Manger.
  • Supports the customer and employee satisfaction activities of the organization. Maintains good relationship with physicians, management, other departments and staff.
  • Organizes, maintains and restocks storage areas keeping the goal of easy access to end uses while ensuring safety following DNV guidelines.
