Qualifications

You will be responsible for:

  • Manages critical data and information, including surveillance of healthcare associated infections (HAI’s), using a well-designed surveillance program that is based on sound epidemiological principles.  Directs and supports a culture of targeting zero healthcare associated infections. 
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement based on indicators, process and measure outcomes, other findings and/or observations.  Participates and contributes to the organizations quality improvement plan. 
  • Develops, recommends, and implements policies and procedures, based on scientifically valid infection prevention and control measures that have a positive impact on the process and preventions of healthcare associated infections.  Collaborates with department directors in the development of policies and procedures ensuring they are integrated and useful in those departments. 
  • Intervenes directly and indirectly to prevent infections. 
  • Reports communicable diseases to the Public Health Department in compliance with state, local and federal requirements.
  • Complies with regulations, guidelines, and accreditation requirements. 
  • Observes staff compliance with established infection control policies and procedures and reports findings to the department manager.
  • Assists in the evaluation and implementation of new products and equipment.

 

What will you need?

  • Current valid Florida RN license  
  • Certification in Infection Control or eligibility within 1 year required. 
  • Two to three years RN experience in an acute care setting required or in an Infection Prevention Management role. 
  • Two years management experience required. 
  • Knowledge of epidemiologic principles, infectious diseases, sterilization, sanitation and disinfection practices, as well as, a knowledge of adult education principles required. 
  • Competent in use of Cerner electronic medical record software, Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Must have knowledge of Joint Commission, CDC, OSHA, NCQA, State and Local regulatory requirements. 
  • Must be proficient with statistical tools and spreadsheets. 
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and make decisions based on scientific principles.
