Manager –Diversity and Inclusion – Maitland

Florida Hospital seeks to hire a Manager of Diversity and Inclusion who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Established in 1908, Florida Hospital is one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare systems in the country, caring for more than a million patients each year. The 2,286-bed acute-care medical facility, comprised of eight hospitals, has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best hospitals in the country for the past 10 years. Job Summary:

The Diversity Manager a professional who works closely with the Diversity Officer in leading Diversity and Inclusion at Florida Hospital. He/she is responsible for the co-development, implementation, and evaluation of Diversity programs, financial management including strategic planning, budgetary oversight, and forecasting. He/she is also responsible for serving as an ex officio representative to the Diversity Committee and the community. Asists the Diversity Officer in other functions as needed. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationship that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Must be a strong leader with in depth understanding of diversity and inclusion and its effect on the operational activities of healthcare.
  • Demonstrates ability to be a leader to build effective teams and manage performance and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate positive attitude that enhance and improve office climate.
  • Possess strong curriculum skills necessary in the co-design and implementation of diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Demonstrate ability to handle stress and lead multiple projects with minimal oversight.
  • Exhibit proficiency in facilitation and presentation skills. Strong experience and history in managing routines and work flow.
  • Demonstrate ability in building external and internal people relationships throughout the organization.
  • Excellent computer applications, written and oral communication skills a must.
  • This position requires a high level of integrity and ethical discretion in maintaning confidential and personal information.
  • Proven experience in fostering a diverse workforce and inclusive workplace.
  • Must demonstrate passion and commitment to diversity and inclusion and must exhibit the hospital's mission and core values in every work interaction.
  • Bachelor's degree required in such areas as business administration, management, human resources, education, communication, social sciences, or related areas.
  • Master's degree in related field (Preferred)
  • Three to five years experience in diversity and inclusion (Preferred)
  • Executive Certificate In Diversity Management (Preferred)
  • Professional In Human Resource (Preferred)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages and oversees the Diversity and Inclusion department of Florida Hospital under the direction of the Diversity Officer/Director.
  • Assists the Diversity Officer/Director in the assurance that expectations, plans, priorities, and programs implemented and deployed are aligned with Florida Hospital’s strategic goals and objectives. Monitors trends and assures continuity and consistency in diversity educational offerings.
  • Oversees employee, intern, and volunteer selections, work performance, and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and integrating measurable diversity and inclusion strategies for the organization. Assists in benchmarking and communicating diversity and inclusion industry trends and best practices.
  • Provides leadership for all diversity related events.
  • Support department efforts to establish and foster relationships with internal partners and external organizations to develop, advocate, and implement diversity and inclusion strategies and deliverables. Serve as performance/relationship management consultant to departments to assess needs and develop strategies to address the identified gaps.
  • Assists the Diversity Officer in oversight and supervision for all activities related to the Diversity Advisory Council for Florida Hospital’s eight campuses.
  • Serve as the finance manager for the department with complete oversight and accountability for financial management including strategic planning and forecasting for the Diversity department.
  • Represents the Diversity Office to the Office of Financial Administration.
  • Manages and tracks budget for engagement efforts. Prepares reports on expenditures as requested
  • Collaborate with Diversity officer and other leaders in the design and implementation of diversity-related modules pertinent to the strategic plans of the organization.
  • Conduct periodic evaluation of diversity standards through classes, diversity audits, focus groups, and critical diversity metrics. Promotes continuous improvement in educational processes. Integrates published research and current literature to develop and implement learning activities. Contributes to the research process and participates in research education as needed.
  • Serve as second trainer/instructor/facilitator for diversity-related curriculums. Be able to conduct New Employee Experience, New Leader Experience, New Nursing Orientation, New International Nurses Orientation.
  • Serve as external consultant and partner with other departments to create customized training based on department needs.
  • Prepare and maintain reports and trends of Diversity and Inclusion accountabilities and metrics
  • Assist in the preparation of the Annual Diversity and Inclusion report to FH Board and other senior leadership teams annually. Be able to co-present the report as requested.
  • Monitor trends in recruitment, termination, internship database of all reports relating to increase recruitment of diverse candidates at Florida Hospital by identifying underrepresented minority candidates for faculty, staff, and administrative positions.
  • Facilitate and monitor the employment, retention, and unbiased progression of a diverse workforce.
  • Serves as a mentor, role model, community advocate by providing counsel, resources in the areas of networking, nurturing, and service to Florida Hospital and the community through involvement, collaboration, and hosting diversity-related events.
  • Serve as an active member of the eight Diversity Advisory Councils, Diversity Committee, Council on Mission, Gallup, United Way, and Spiritual Ambassador for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Market diversity brand to both Florida Hospital and the community through involvement, collaboration, and hosting of diversity related events.
  • Develop and market tools to increase effectiveness of Diversity and Inclusion programs to benefit organization as a whole both internally and externally.
  • Represent Florida Hospital and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion through printed work, consulting, and public speaking engagements relating to diversity and inclusion.
