Our 224-bed hospital includes a medical ICU, cardiovascular ICU, PCU, open heart surgery center and behavioral health. In addition, we have accredited programs in orthopedics, chest pain, and inpatient diabetes, plus an award-winning emergency department.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs job responsibilities related to scheduling process.
  • Schedules procedures according to departmental procedures in i-Connect.
  • Obtains appropriate information from the individual initiating the scheduling and records it accurately.
  • Monitors staff updates and new physician privileges.
  • Communicates information regarding schedule and schedule changes in a timely manner to any department or physician with a need to know.
  • Maintains calm in emergency situations.
  • Obtains demographical and billing information from patient, family or physician’s office and records accurately
  • Maintains effective communication and working relationship with: staff, physicians, outside agencies, visitors – as per the Extraordinary Customer Services values of Texas Health Huguley
  • Receives and manages physicians’ orders in DCR Tracker in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strives for excellence in performing assigned duties.
  • Informs physicians’ offices of changes in patients’ schedules when needed.  Notifies all departments of changes as necessary.
  • Notifies patients of date/time of procedure to eliminate number of phone calls.
  • Assists staff in department to promote teamwork.
  • Provides information requiring follow-up to other staff members prior to leaving the work area for continuity of quality healthcare.
  • Plans and organizes area activity and operational tasks to assure maximum productivity.
  • Notifies departments regarding patient needs.  Records information under “Scheduling Notes”.
  • Associate remains flexible to changing systems, is expected to demonstrated quality and effectiveness in work habits and treat staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect.
  • Understands the Computerized Physician Order entry process and proficiently uses the electronic medical record for retrieval of patient information.
  • Understands computer downtime procedures.
  • Monitors Electronic Medical Record for new physician orders and diagnostic results.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What you will need:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • 1-2 years of LVN experience in a Medical/Surgical preferred
  • Licensed Vocational Nursing license in State of Texas
  • Good communication and public relations skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good organizational skills
  • Able to type 30 wpm
  • Computer skills required
