Lead Materials Management - EAST SURGERY – East Orlando

AdventHealth East Orlando seeks to hire a Materials Management Leader who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.



Facility Profile:

AdventHealth East Orlando, a 293-bed full service community hospital that serves as one of AdventHealth’s seven satellite facilities, became part of the AdventHealth system in 1990. At AdventHealth East Orlando, we strive to improve our patients’ quality of life through a holistic approach to health care — mind, body and spirit — while remaining at the forefront of medical innovation. During the past ten years, we’ve invested more than $122 million in facility improvements to serve the growing community. Among the recent additions and openings, we have an expanded emergency room, a center for Medical Simulation and Education, a Children’s Emergency Center, a Renovated Cancer Institute, and a new 40-bed inpatient nursing unit. The hospital is also home to the AdventHealth Orthopaedic Institute at East Orlando as well as a comprehensive urology program.

M-F ; 7am-3:30pm



Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Lead, Materials Management is responsible for assisting and supporting the surgical department for all supply / materials functions. Responsibilities include generating requisitions for special orders, tracking and receiving specific assigned non-stock items, managing inventory and adjusting par levels when necessary. Responsible for processing and oversight of all repairs. Assists with the department’s capital equipment process. Reviews reports and data related to supplies and charges to ensure accuracy and completeness. Contributes to development of action plans for supply cost savings and management. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.



Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.
  • Organizational skills (Preferred)
  • Ability to manage stress and handle challenging situations and personalities (Preferred)
  • Current knowledge of Medical Terminology or completion of hospital approved course (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of Inventory Control concepts (Preferred)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Takes the initiative in maintaining high standards and quality in the facilitation of cost savings and containment. Collaborates with department leadership and operating room specialty coordinators on a regular basis to review unit monthly budget cost per case analysis and department requests.
  • Acts as a liaison between departments regarding orders, cost center discrepancies and various material management issues. Ensures vendors are educated regarding AdventHealth Policies and Procedures. Monitors access into surgical services for vendors.
  • Assists and oversees that the department DPC (Suncare) maintenance is maintained. Maintains unit Price File information, working with management team on price file issues, cost per case analysis and ensures that departmental charge sheets are updated. Analyzes and corrects the department JE Detail Report to ensure correct cost centers and are within the monthly budget guidelines.
  • Works with FH Systems material management to ensure that all department inventory stock supplies have the appropriate MPC numbers. Works with leadership to set and maintain par levels for inventory.
  • Manages the inventory of implants. Scans all tissue implants to ensure adherence to FDA tracking guidelines. Utilizes computer system for tissue tracking.
  • Processes department repairs, loaners, and special orders/requests within the budget for designated department.
  • Participates in the training and orientation of new materials/supply personnel.
  • Supports the customer and employee satisfaction activities of the organization. Maintains good relationships with physicians, management, other departments, and staff.
