You will be responsible for
  • Direct efforts toward quality documentation, including performing QA on a percentage of documents transcribed/edited by vendor transcriptionists, according to AHS guidelines requiring a 98% efficiency rate.
  • Through a standard random selection process, select randomly transcribed/edited reports for review.  This includes correcting reports deficiencies such as blanks.
  • Review the transcribed report against actual dictation, applying industry-specific standards provided by current resources and references.
  • Using preferred standard quality scoring criteria, calculate and score reports consistently and fairly, weighing the varying degrees of errors against the documentation length.
  • Provide timely and consistent feedback to the AHS HIM Corporate Director/Designee on vendor quality and medical staff feedback.
  • Randomly review transcribed/edited documents for adherence to the style guide set up by AHS Advisory Team.  Failing to follow these style guides will result in failure of obtaining speech recognition for those providers and therefore will interfere with TAT and productivity.
  • Recognize, interpret, and evaluate inconsistencies, discrepancies and inaccuracies in the medical dictation, and appropriately clarify and/or report them as required.
  • Monitoring M Modal Fluency Manager application to identify potential delays and address these with the appropriate Corporate/Vendor Representative.
  • Consistently review accounts on pending and hold list and makes appropriate report corrections.  Perform additional research in the AHS Health Record when incorrect demographic/medical information is provided by the dictator.
  • Ensures pre-admission documents that do not contain a medical record number or financial numbers are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Process Carbon Copies not address by the vendor and ensure the final copy is sent to the recipient.
  • Edit transcribed reports requiring additional tables, final diagnosis/discharge date on discharge summary.
  • Process addenda requiring additional follow up by AHS.
  • Correct incorrect work types and resubmit the reports.
  • Monitor and correct interface errors.

What will you need

  • Must be a highly motivated, with the ability to work in a remote setting.
  • Must be a highly qualified transcriptionist/editor.
  • Demonstrated leadership/management skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in all work types and specialties.
  • Demonstrate quality transcription work, consistently maintaining an accuracy score of 98% or higher.
  • Certified transcriptionist preferred, not required.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medications, and laboratory values.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical transcription guidelines (The AAMT Book of Style, as well as the Style Guide approved by the AHS Advisory Team, and practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, and style, in order to provide consistent quality feedback to the supervisor of the transcriptionists.
  • Excellent acoustical skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the medicolegal implications and risk management responsibilities of the healthcare record, ensuring compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Ability to understand diverse accents, dialects, and varying dictation styles.
  • Proficient in referencing, researching, reporting, tracking and monitoring.
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple priorities and time frames
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision
  • Ability to operate computer, multiple software applications, transcription equipment, and other equipment necessary, including the ability to accept voice/text files in multiple formats and word processing software.
  • Organizational skills for file management
  • Mathematical skills, including calculations and statistics.
  • Ability to communicate QA concerns/questions effectively with client/user.
  • Minimum of 2 years or more experience as auditor in a hospital Acute Care Transcription Department, hat focused on each task listed above.
  • CMT – Certified Medical Transcriptionist. (Preferred)
  • RMT – Registered Medical Transcriptionist (Preferred)
  • Associates degree in Health Information Management (Preferred)
