You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Clerk to Float between registration, ER, Switchboard and Imaging.   Registration - Arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients and admission of individuals who have hospital based outpatient testing or procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters demographic and insurance information required for admission into the computer system correctly. Collects point of service collections from patients upon the registration process.  ER - Provides indirect patient care in the Emergency Department.  Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff.  Implements directions from physicians and nursing staff. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments.   Switchboard - Responsible for the hospital switchboard, ensuring incoming phone calls are greeted and routed appropriately. This position is physically located in the Emergency Department. Greets patients who present to the Emergency Room window.  Responsible for creating temporary registrations in the computer system, which allows for immediate bedding for ER patients. Responsible for calling codes utilizing the overhead paging system.  Imaging - Greets patients and visitors who report to the Imaging/Lab reception area. Maintains Imaging Services records and provides film management functions.  Responsible for preparing and completing required paperwork and reports. Assists with non-patient Laboratory and Outpatient registration procedures from the clinics.  Serves as a back-up for Registration, as needed.  Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities. Ensures highest level of customer service is provided to the patients and their families.  Ensures patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Ensures patients’ privacy is protected by complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations. Performs other secretarial/clerical duties as needed.  .
