Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel
Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel has provided faith-based, whole person care to the community since it opened in 2012. Every detail of our 83-bed facility is purposefully designed to create an environment of healing for mind, body and spirit. Our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment from outpatient services to our surgical suites and inpatient care. In 2013, we also opened a 50,000-square foot Health and Wellness Center that includes an indoor track, group exercise areas, and an aquatics center with a lap pool to help community members achieve optimal health. In August 2015, the hospital began construction on am expansion that will open in December of 2016, significantly increasing the number of inpatient beds, surgical suites, and emergency department rooms.
You will be responsible for:
  • Performs fitness assessments/testing, including cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular testing, body-fat composition, cholesterol screening, flexibility assessment, and exercise program review.  Provides consultation to individuals and groups regarding their test results.
  • Develops exercise prescriptions and programs for members based on their health and fitness needs, specifying fitness equipment and routines.
  • Provides fitness floor supervision.  Provides exercise instruction and explains and demonstrates use of fitness apparatus and equipment, including use of the TechnoGym SmartKey.  Offers oral instruction to members on fitness technique and recommends corrective adjustments.  Observes participants engaged in fitness activities to ensure safety rules and regulations are adhered to. 
  • Provides blood pressure readings, towels, and assists members as necessary.
  • Leads exercise sessions that utilize proper fitness techniques based on the most current acceptable and appropriate research and promotes member participation.  Provides wellness class instruction on fitness related topics to members.
  • Ensures that the fitness floors and equipment are clean and well maintained.
  • As requested, provides corporate health promotion services, fitness testing, wellness screenings, and lectures on health, nutrition, and fitness.
  • Any member of the fitness staff may be required to provide coverage in any area mentioned above based on the needs of the members and organization.
  • Stays current with research and trends in fitness through attendance at workshops, reading professional journals and networking with other fitness professionals.
  • Represents the Health & Wellness Center in a professional, courteous and enthusiastic manner.
  • A commitment to provide World Class Customer service and work collaboratively on a World Class team.
  • Adheres to all FHWC and HWC standards, policies and procedures
Qualifications
What will you need:                                                            
  • The communication skills necessary to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and group situations.
  • The ability to insure a positive member experience.
  • The interpersonal skills necessary to interact with members and clients in a personable and encouraging manner.
  • The organizational skills necessary to provide instruction/information systematically and to simultaneously supervise multiple activities.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or Physical Education.
  • Experience within a health and wellness facility performing the duties of a Fitness Associate.
  • BLS and AED Certification required upon hire
  • Certification through ACSM, ACE, AFAA, IDEA, NETA, NASM or NSCA (Preferred)
  • Experience working with the Exercise is Medicine initiative and philosophy is (Preferred)
