Exercise Physiologist – Outpatient Rehab Wellness and Massage – Orlando – Per Diem

AdventHealth Orlando seeks to hire an Exercise Physiologist who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Department Profile:

AdventHealth Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation – Adanson offers physical, occupational and speech therapy and specializes in treating adolescent, adult and elderly patients for orthopedic and sports medicine injuries as well as neurological diagnoses. Other specialty programs include neuromuscular reeducation, massage therapy and a medical fitness program that is supervised by an exercise physiologist. Our highly skilled team, including several Neuro-IFRAH certified therapists, work together to deliver excellent care.

Job Summary:

The Exercise Therapist/Exercise Physiologist Provides direct and indirect services to specific age groups in the Outpatient Rehabilitation and Wellness Centers. Utilizes process improvement in achieving the goals of the Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Department. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.



Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Entry-level professional competency of Exercise Physiology theory, principles and applications as defined in competencies departmental policy and commitment to patient oriented practice.
  • Basic computer skills to include Outlook, Microsoft Office and Windows (Preferred).
  • At least a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification


Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates through behavior AdventHealth’s core Values of Keep Me Safe, Love Me, Make it Easy, and Own it

  • Coordinates exercise program including referral proceedings, scheduling, program planning and exercise supervision to achieve the goals of the Rehabilitation Department, patient/client and Physician.
  • Provides appropriate documentation of all proceedings to ensure program quality and meet hospital and department standards. Also records additional pertinent information in notes and other appropriate forms at time of occurrence.
  • Performs and interprets the results of the physiological assessment accurately. Recognizes high-risk individuals and designs/refers appropriate exercise prescription.
  • Utilizes communication skills appropriate to the population served, which may include: Pediatric (1 < 12 yrs), Adolescent (12 < 18 yrs), Adult (18 < 65 yrs) and Geriatric (65 + yrs).
  • Maintains patient/client safety by explaining and demonstrating correct exercise technique and equipment use, closely supervising all activities and discontinuing patient’s exercise if condition warrants.
  • Educates and leads wellness participants and community members in all wellness related topics and exercise classes.
  • Practices principles of employee and patient safety when performing daily job activities via observation.
  • Actively promotes and implements marketing plan specific to the program as appropriate.
  • When available and as required, assists with patient care following the technical aide job description “Duties and Responsibilities” section.
  • Meets at least 75% of the productivity standard.
  • Complies with FH Compliance Plan, rules and regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies, and with the standards of all accrediting bodies and payors as evident through documentation reviews, tracers and rounds results. Takes responsibility for the environment of care by monitoring and taking action as needed.
