We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Executive IT Director of the Population Health Community Provider Engagement position that will be based in our PHSO department. This position is based in Maitland, FL. 


The Executive IT Director of the Population Health Community Provider Engagement serves Adventist Health System through effective management and leadership of IT initiatives and teams supporting Adventist Health System’s Population Health strategies in addition to company-wide management of Adventist Information Technology’s.

Under minimal supervision of the VP of Population Health Technology, the Senior IT Director coaches, mentors and leads staff and departmental management in the daily operations of assigned areas. In partnership with other Adventist IT services, this role engages with stakeholders in the planning, design, and execution of new projects and ensures effective application support, including application stability and quality in accordance with IT governance models and AHS policies.

The Executive IT Director of the Population Health Community Provider Engagement acts as the relationship leader for assigned areas, is the point of escalation for executive stakeholders, and serves as the liaison between assigned areas and Adventist IT. This role represents IT as a facilitator or member of various governance committees in support of our community providers supporting population health. The position is accountable for driving and supporting the organization’s IT Population Health community provider’s technology education, engagement, implementation, support and optimization. These technologies include, but are not limited to quality improvement, risk mitigation, performance metrics, disease registries and electronic health record (EHR).  


Specific job duties include:

  • Leads the team accountable for the implementation, education and ongoing support of IT Population Health management solutions for our community providers across the continuum of care.
  • Identifies, evaluates and incorporates best practices and innovative emerging technology trends to enhance quality, reduce cost, improve network operations and provider engagement in support of Population Health.
  • Leads the team accountable for engaging and educating community providers on our EHR offerings. Coordinates the plan and schedule for the implementation and integration of the EHR with the community provider’s office and EHR vendor.  This team acts as the first line of support for any technical issues regarding the EHR and facilitates the communication to the vendor. Accountable for identifying opportunities to optimization our EHRs, including customized templates to increase the ability to document, capture, integrate and report on quality metrics.
  • Accountable for partnering with legal, IT security and compliance to ensure necessary legal agreements related to data sharing, discounts and subsidies are in place.
  • Leads the creation of IT Population Health education materials including how all solutions support the strategic direction of the business. (AHS, PHSO, CIN, etc.)  Facilitates educational sessions including in person on site, provider and office staff town halls and webinars. Serves as the first line of support for IT Population Health solutions with our community providers.
  • Accountable for the team that facilitates data exchange between the community providers and AHS IT.
  • Directs, oversees, and evaluates the work of Directors and managers. Holds team accountable for achieving plans and performance targets. Oversees and establishes processes to identify and resolve the most complex issues and problems impacting the organization’s population health initiatives and activities for community providers. Supports development and continued professional growth to meet company and individual goals for long-term success. Demonstrates an expectation for continuous quality improvement utilizing processes that include consideration of all stakeholders.
  • Builds and supports effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and organizations. Develops partnerships, coordinates activities, reviews work, exchanges information, and/or resolves problems related to community provider business programs. Able to navigate the IT environment on behalf of operational leaders to support technology for key businesses objectives that serve our members and care givers.
  • Responsible for recruitment, training, hiring, and development of employees including staff and leadership level personal supporting IT solutions.
  • Participates in the strategic IT planning process in partnership with key stakeholders by evaluating new technology, sourcing new IT initiatives, building budgets, implementation plans, communication plans, and proposals to ensure effective support processes are considered.
  • Serve as an advocate of Adventist IT and assigned areas in various settings including IT and operational governance committees, executive steering committees, conferences, vendor meetings, and with collaborators.
  • Communicates the department vision, translating it into actionable projects and activities. Maximizes management staff’s contributions and assures timely decision-making reflecting the mission, vision, and values of the system.
  • Works with stakeholders to understand the strategic direction of Population Health and membership growth to proactively research and identify IT care innovation solutions.
  • Develops and oversees the department budget to meet corporate goals and objectives. Meets annual budgetary goals. Translates organizational plans, goals and initiatives into assumptions for annual operating and/or capital budgets.  Negotiates contracts with external vendors for products and/or services and monitors/evaluates quality and/or performance.  Manages and reports expenditures.
  • Reviews, prepares, analyzes and presents reports and recommendations to senior leadership regarding operations, program, services and other applicable areas of interest in order to provide concise and accurate information that aids in decision-making. 
  • Participates as a subject-matter expert and may lead or facilitate task forces, teams and councils to plan, implement and coordinate programs, services and activities for the organization.  May serve as a staff resource to the organization’s governing board and/or applicable committees.  This includes planning and directing the execution of enterprise application projects and activities supporting Population Health. 

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:   

  • Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain ongoing relationships with Senior Executives.
  • Able to assess and identify new opportunities associated with the support of technology/automation of population health processes.
  • Ability to lead the activities of other leaders to meet deadlines and resolve problems.
  • Expert level presentation, verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Capable of solving problems quickly and accurately
  • Demonstrates the ability to engage and educate providers on technology solutions
  • Finance and Budget (Preferred)
  • Understanding of health plan data compliance requirements (Preferred)
  • Innovative and strategic thinker (Preferred)

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Four-year degree in Management Information Systems, Business, Healthcare Administration or other related field.
  • 7 -10 years’ experience in healthcare technology
  • Extensive experience working with providers
  • Experience with Population Health technology solutions and EHRs
  • Experience leading teams and Directors
  • Recognized expert in IT strategic planning. (Preferred)
  • Recognized expert in solving business problems and understanding processes(Preferred)
