You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Wears prescribed protective gear (i.e., gloves, goggles) appropriate to assignment and observes and participates in all hospital-required Safety, Risk Management, and Infection Control practices, including hand washing/hand sanitizing protocols.
  • Cleans and disinfects the operating rooms.
  • Verifies that all reusable string and microfiber mops and cleaning cloths are changed after each use.
  • Cleans or oversees cleaning of procedure rooms after each surgical or invasive procedure and monitors that properly prepared, EPA-registered disinfectants are used.
  • Identifies all items to be cleaned between cases (eg, all surfaces of OR procedure bed, mattresses, positioning devices, tourniquet cuffs, blood pressure cuffs, transport vehicles, bins, kick buckets, work surfaces).
  • Gathers and disposes of garbage, waste, soiled linen and infectious and regular trash in the prescribed manner.
  • Distributes laundered articles and linens. Processes soiled linen according to facility policy..
  • Cleans and remakes beds.
  • Assists in setup and tear down of specialty equipment, inventorying parts and proper storage of equipment.
  • Dust mops and damp mops floors. Performs interim floor care. Cleans and maintains floor care equipment.
  • Dusts (high and low) furniture and equipment. Cleans metalwork. Washes walls, ceilings, windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empties wastebaskets. Transports regular and bio-hazardous waste to disposal area(s). Empties bio-hazardous containers. Collects confidential paper. 
  • Refills paper products, soap and hand sanitizer dispensers. Cleans/disinfects equipment. Replaces cubicle curtains if needed.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintains inventory levels of supplies in assigned area.
  • Operation of UV disinfection device in patient and non-patient care areas by following proper operating and safety procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains courteous, tactful and professional level of interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with staff, patients and guests. 
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with regard to patient requests or pertinent information to the Nursing team.
  • Inventory, receive, and restock materials used for supporting the operating room.
  • Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.
  • Exhibit professional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Assist with identifying pertinent evidence to establish benchmarks as directed.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
  • Any additional duties assigned in support of perioperative patient care
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
  • Ability to function at a high level in a physically demanding, high-stress environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work under stressful conditions
  • Ability to work irregular hours including call hours
  • Two years perioperative services experience preferred
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
 
Job Summary:
Function of an Environmental Service Technician performs multiple departmental tasks that facilitate cleaning and disinfection services for operating room readiness and the turnover processes between surgical patients.
