Work Hours/Shift:
Full Time Days 



  • Performs duties in a timely manner and provides updates if delays occur.

  • Actively participates on Patient Flow team, Stemi Task Force, ER Regional committees, Stroke Team, ED Physician Division meetings and Monthly ED Medical Director meetings.

  • Complete and submit departmental reports on a monthly basis.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of role in Hazardous Materials and Waste Program, including procedures to follow in case of spill

  • Demonstrates knowledge of role in Emergency Preparedness Program.  Participates in Disaster Drills, STEMI drills, as appropriate.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of role in Life Safety Program and participates in Fire Drills, as appropriate.

  • Identifies benchmarks, data/ process, and best practices for ERs with commensurate size.  Uses data to improve ED performance.

  • Employs strategic and innovative tactics related to Emergency Department.

  • Demonstrates accountability by taking responsibility for decisions, actions and results.

  • Responsible for the achievement of identified patient care and organizational outcomes.

  • Implements actions, as appropriate, recommended by the hospital-wide Quality Improvement Council (QIC).

  • Supports the utilization of evidence-based practice to improve patient care outcomes.  Conducts SWOT and GAP analyses as needed.

  • Identifies and advocates for resources to support nursing and organizational goals.

  • Complies with the Employee Code of Conduct.

  • Assures department compliance with all federal, state, and local laws; rules and government regulations and maintains regulatory agency preparedness

  • Assists the Risk Management Department in the identification of risk, the investigation of incidents and the analysis of the causes of incidents.

  • Works with Risk Management to develop corrective action plans addressing noted trends or categories of risk, incidents.

  • Monitors patient outcomes / events to identify trends and recommends corrective actions, as needed.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of role in Emergency Preparedness Program and participates in disaster drills.

  • Specific functional areas of responsibility include ER, ER overflow areas and other areas as assigned.

  • Participates in staff development by ensuring education, advancement of staff skills and certifications.

  • Serve as mentor and advisor to facilitate professional growth of the Nurse & Clinical Leaders.

  • Promotes FHCW both within the system and in the community.

  • Plans new programs or expansions, including equipment, staffing and space requirements

  • Meets all mandatory requirements for hospital education and training.

  • Demonstrates commitment to community involvement.  Represents the hospital, as needed, to non-healthcare community agencies and organizations.

  • Certification in  Emergency Nursing or Cardiovascular Nursing


  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business, Management or related field is required (current enrollment in Master’s Program acceptable)

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

  • Minimum of five years’ experience, including at least 2 years at the supervisory level (Clinical Manager equivalency or above)                




  • Current license of Registered Nurse in Florida or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure by endorsement


  • Certification in  Emergency Nursing
