Work Hours/Shift

PRN Days, Monday through Friday

You Will Be Responsible For: 

• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

• Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports.

• Performs standards electroencephalographic procedures for patients as ordered by physician.

• Prepares the patient, explains the procedure, and ensures patient's cooperation’s during the examination.

• Applies suitable electrodes on predetermined measured positions on the patient's head and checks their performance.

• Calibrates and adjusts the EEG apparatus in accordance with standard procedures.

• Selects predetermined electrode combinations as well as special combinations made necessary by the case under study.

• Monitors other variables; dispenses sedative medications under physician's direction, as needed, to induce sleep.

Abstracts relevant information from the patient's clinical record and obtains additional information if necessary.

Prepares preliminary reports addressed to the patient's physician.


What You Will Need:

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, required.
  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of two years experience as an EEG Tech and Nerve Conduction Tech required.
  • Attends continuing education courses/seminars when available, required.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • EEG certification preferred.
  • Additional languages preferred.

Job Summary:

Performs EEGs, ambulatory EEGs, telephone transmission EEGs and nerve conduction studies. Responsible for recording electrical activity of the patient's brain to study epilepsy, convulsive disorders and localizing lesions in the cerebrum. Performs clerical duties. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality (CQI) improvement activities.
