You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Oversight for the development, implementation, coordination, solicitation of smaller donations generally received through Annual Fund mailings and social media campaigns

  • In concert with the Director, Individual Giving, develop and manage a Grateful Patient program including point-of-sale opportunities for medical personnel recognition and gifting to Grateful Patient Ambassador training and management.

  • Conduct research utilizing public information available through purchase software and the internet, as well as volunteer provided information to determine prospect capacity and propensity to support AdventHealth Foundation Shawnee Mission through annual, major and/or planned gifts.

  • Working with team members, develop and implement a standard protocol for the moves management and donor assignment of these prospects.

  • Manage a portfolio of 50 or more donors in the discovery stage to better understand their motivations and abilities for support.

  • Maintain accurate and complete records.

  • Manage the annual employee giving campaign including ambassador training, materials development, production and distribution.  Work with the Special Event and Stewardship Specialist on any associated events, such as kickoffs and trainings, and support the Finance Coordinator in the processing and recording of pledges.

  • Develop, create and implement an annual fund appeal program, segmenting mail and social media appeals as warranted.

  • Direct and manage the newsletter process, including timely team-brainstorming for format and article ideas, and the story creation, newsletter formatting, printing and mailing.

  • Build, monitor and adhere to annual budget for all responsibilities, particularly print and postage. Ensure approved budget guidelines for revenue and expense are maintained.

  • Assist and advise the Special Event and Stewardship Specialist in the development and implementation of a strategic stewardship plan for larger event and campaign donors, including recognition events, materials, donor boards, and thank you gifts.

  • Prepare and provide updates on AdventHealth Foundation Shawnee Mission events for publication in Foundation materials and coordinate with Marketing regarding CEO Message, Websites, Facebook and press releases to local media outlets

  • Build and maintain strong donor and volunteer relationships, ensuring all activities align and support AdventHealth Shawnee Mission and Foundation’s mission and goals.

  • Assist the Special Event and Stewardship Specialist during critical times related to special events.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need:
•     Bachelor’s Degree

•     Three years’ non-profit experience, preferably in areas related to donor relations, advancement services, annual fund and/or prospect research

Job Summary:

The Donor Development Specialist is responsible for developing the pipeline of donors through Annual Fund and Grateful Patient efforts as well as researching and segmenting the pipeline for cultivation and solicitation for larger gifts by other members of the team.   This position is responsible for the development of donors, the re-creation and implementation of annual fund, employee giving and Grateful Patient programs, and the utilization and maintenance of donor research mechanisms.  This position is responsible for stewarding donors, with special attention to individual, major gift donors. This position will work in coordination on other projects with the Executive Director, Director of Corporate and Foundation Giving, Director of Individual Giving, and other staff and volunteers in attracting funding for the Foundation and will support all other operations and activities of the Foundation as needed.
