You Will Be Responsible For:

  • the hospital

  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of regulations applicable to quality, patient care, patient satisfaction and/or other department functions

  • Demonstrates strong communication skills

  • Networks effectively with clinical leaders in all patient-care settings to enhance effectiveness of the plans of care development

  • Maintains collaborative working relationships with medical and nursing staffs and other disciplines involved in plans of care

  •  Is responsible for department’s operational excellence; assures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards

  •  Manages all activities so that quality services are provided in an efficient and effective manner, as observed by VP/CNO

  •  Services provided meet all applicable regulatory requirements

  •  Maintains an effective quality improvement program as evidenced by reports

  •  Quality improvement program meets DNV and other regulatory agency requirement standards as evidenced by review

  •  Maintains departmental productivity measurements; reports status monthly

  •  Directs department activities in a manner consistent with organization-wide programs and procedures

  •  Establishes department policies and procedures that reflect the organization’s standards.

  •  Participates in educational programs, seminars and conferences

  •  Disseminates information relative to pertinent changes in policies, standards and regulations to department staff and other appropriate Hospital departments

  •  Maintains current nursing licensure CEU credits

  •  Manages human resources to assure quality services and promote positive employee relations

  • Consistently and fairly implements human resources policies

  • Maintains effective and appropriate staffing by monitoring employee turnover, overtime and absenteeism

  • Employee performance appraisals are completed thoroughly and submitted on time.

  • Follows human resources policies to implement progressive discipline, when necessary

  • Collaborates with human resources on the recruitment and selection of qualified employment candidates, following all policies, guidelines and applicable laws

  • Develops performance goals/objectives with each staff member to promote maximum productivity, proficiency and professional growth, as evidenced by written goals on performance appraisal

  • Is recognized as a positive role model

  • Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization’s financial resources

  • Develops department budget within designated deadlines according to all budgetary policies and procedures

  • Effectively utilizes resources within established budget; notifies Vice President of all variances anticipated, or occurred, to maintain department services

  • Adheres to procedures regarding acquisition of, and payment for, goods and services, as evidenced by appropriate and timely processing requisitions and invoices

  • Recommends ways to reduce expenditures and/or enhance revenues without compromising quality of services

  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization and industry information to staff.

  • Attends organization’s informational meetings, as evidenced by attendance sheets.

  • Gathers, interprets, and delivers information to staff in a timely fashion

  • Assures staff understands information as evidenced by staff compliance with, and participation in, hospital programs, seminars, training and related activities

  • Communication with staff is effective, resolving conflicts which may hamper relations and productivity, as observed by Senior Vice President

  • Uses hospital communications resources to inform internal and external audiences of departmental news/achievements/policies

  •  Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified timeframes, as part of the organization’s overall mission

  •   Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job‑related hazards

  •   Provides complete and accurate responses to safety questions

  •   Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner as instructed

  • Maintains work area and equipment in condition required by department standards.
  • Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions
  • If Manager/Leader, provides for the safety of department employees

  •   Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens

  •   Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures and correct use of protective barrier equipment

  •   Assures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.

  • Function independently under the guidance of the VP/CNO within the broad scope of department and organization-wide policies, practices and common goals.



  • Graduate of an accredited school for Registered Nursing

    Five years of relevant progressive work experience in clinical healthcare, including direct experience in quality assessment and resource management.

    FAST education in orientation



  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing

    8 years of relevant progressive work experience in clinical healthcare, including direct experience in quality assessment and resource management preferred



  • Current Florida RN or ARNP license upon hire
