In August 2003, the hospital opened the doors of this replacement facility on Hwy 441 in Tavares. The 450,000 square foot, 269-bed acute care facility offers the latest in medical technology. Each patient room is private, and the uniquely designed "clover leaf" patient care units consist of 60 beds per floor. The Emergency Department is sized to accommodate up to 60,000 visits per year.

Qualifications

You will be responsible for:

  • Creates a strategic and operational department plan to achieve the mission and vision of the department.  Proactive and process improvement focused.
  • Understands the hospital goals and objectives and develops a department plan, complete with long and short-term objectives.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining departmental operational budget. Maintains financial records and expenditures for supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for the day to day operations of in-patient Critical Care and Step-Down nursing units as assigned; Respiratory Therapy and Telemetry Services.
  • Establishes and communicates departmental support for the strategic plan and mission of Florida Hospital Waterman. Effectively recruits, selects, evaluate delegates and motivate employees and through actions, demonstrate what is important.
  • Allocates resources to sustain or achieve quality services. Assists employees in enhancing quality efforts within the objectives of the organization. Provides time to assess, analyze and improve quality including data collection, participation in quality teams and facilitation or leadership of teams. Ensures training needed to sustain or achieve quality services.
  • Develop and administer policies and procedures according to AHCA, TJC and FHW guidelines. Review and revise these as needed to meet trends in patient services and any other regulatory body requirements.
  • Manages productivity within 95-105% range and negotiate changes in standards when appropriate.
  • Exhibits a positive image through professional conduct, pride and support of the organization illustrated by active participation in community programs, projects and professional associations.
  • Participates in one or more programs, which support education, healthy community efforts, county or city-based neighborhood improvement programs.
  • Maintains staffing at appropriate levels with effective recruitment, hiring and retention efforts. Assures that all staff members are qualified, duly licensed and/or credentialed to perform their duties in the department.
  • Administers departmental policies in a manner that provides job satisfaction, professional growth and retention of employees.
  • Authorizes payroll and manages payroll expenses within budget based on utilization.
  • Mentors and grows Nurse Manager direct reports and emerging leaders amongst staff.
  • Exhibits Shared Governance philosophy of leadership.  Able to develop collaborative partnerships with Medical Staff leadership.
What will you need?
  • Florida Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of three to five years of previous progressive management experience in health care related field.  
  • American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
