Corporate Responsibility Consultant

General Summary

The Corporate Responsibility Consultant works collaboratively with the AHMG Regional Corporate Responsibility Officer (RCRO), the Corporate Responsibility Director, the Corporate Responsibility team, and AHMG team leaders and members to ensure that the Corporate Responsibility Monitoring and Auditing Plan is completed in a timely manner. Investigates compliance issues, works with the AdventHealth coding audit team regarding coding and documentation matters, drafts educational materials, provides employee training and presentations, and assists with vendor screening and Business Associate Agreement matters. Serves as an additional resource to AHMG employees seeking compliance support and assists in the development of further compliance program development.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

•      Conducts thorough and timely investigations of complaints against AHMG related to compliance and assesses the viability and severity of the complaints. Assists the RCR Operations, Human Resources department, Risk Management department, and other appropriate individuals and offices to implement corrective action to mitigate effects of noncompliant activities, and documents such actions.

•     Drafts comprehensive materials to be used for compliance education and training throughout AHMG.

•      Conducts training and education programs for Corporate Responsibility to all employees, volunteers, medical and professional staff, board members, and other appropriate parties. Assists in training others to conduct physician practice and departmental workforce training in Corporate Responsibility policies.  Assists in communication efforts to ensure all members of AHMG’s workforce are informed when policies and procedures are changed or updated. Helps to facilitate and promote activities to foster information deployment and Corporate Responsibility awareness within AHMG and its related entities. Assists in maintaining documentation that all required training has occurred in a timely manner.

•       Participates in vendor screening and Business Associate Agreement reviews to ensure compliance with all AHMG policies and protocol.

•      Provides input on the implementation and on-going review of policies and procedures, as well as assistance with implementation of these policies and procedures within the physician practices to ensure compliance with AdventHealth Corporate policies.

•     Evaluates adherence to AdventHealth’s Corporate Responsibility policies and procedures by workforce members. Assists in conducting ongoing Corporate Responsibility monitoring activities and operational assessment functions.

•    Assists in performing ongoing risk assessments of policies, procedures, training programs, etc.; analyzes whether there are any gaps; and helps to determine timeframes and resources necessary to address any gaps.

•     Works with RCRO in receiving, responding to, tracking, and documenting incidents reported by patients, employees, business associates, and others regarding AHMG’s compliance and privacy practices. 

•      Helps to ensure the organization maintains appropriate forms, information notices and materials demonstrating compliance with requirements as prescribed by state and federal laws.

•       Cooperates with the Department of Health and Human Services, the Office for Civil Rights, other government agencies, and organization officers in any Corporate Responsibility or privacy reviews or investigations.

•     Regularly attends and participates in meetings of AHMG committees and professional organizations regarding compliance and privacy issues.

•       Participates in Corporate Responsibility performance improvement projects.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

•    Ability to communicate effectively; to present ideas and information effectively in      front of committees and large groups, with leadership and all AHMG employees

•    Ability to effectively perform education and training functions

•    Ability to prepare effective presentations and reports using a variety of software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, composing documents successfully using advanced writing skills

•    Ability to conduct investigations related to privacy, coding audits, and other compliance matters

•    Ability to draft investigation tools and templates

•    Ability to work in collaboration with other departments

•    Ability to research healthcare regulatory topics related to physician practice/healthcare-related laws and regulations

•    Ability to manage and monitor progress of work plan completion, prioritize work duties, and be able to complete tasks accurately and within established timeframes

•    Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employees, patients and company information

•    Ability to recognize a high standard of ethics in business operations

•    Advanced knowledge of healthcare compliance issues and physician practice operations

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

•   Exceptional communication skills

•   Exceptional writing skills

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

•   Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare, or related field

• Minimum of three years documented work experience in healthcare compliance

•   Experience managing health care compliance program projects

•   Experience delivering presentations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

•  Master’s Degree in related discipline

•  Five years of experience in healthcare compliance, ethics, patient privacy, auditing, regulatory affairs,  law, or a combination thereof

•  Two years of experience in a healthcare management position


LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

  • Certified Coder or CHC (Health Care Compliance Association Certification)
