  • Communicates with courtesy when interacting with internal or external customers—in person or on the telephone.

  • Demonstrates respect for co-workers and develops positive working relationships with other departments.

  • Participates and ensures that rounding for outcomes occurs daily.

  • Promotes and validates AIDET compliance.

  • Maintains responsibility for Wound Healing Institute on 24/7 basis, unless otherwise approved.

  • Performs duties in a timely manner and provides updates if delays occur.

  • Works with the Wound Care Director to facilitate and maintain lines of communication with the various ancillary departments utilized by the department.

  • Responsible for working with Hyperbaric Technician and Wound Care Director to identify and assign a Registered Nurse, each day to support the Hyperbaric Technician, to meet patient identified needs during hyperbaric oxygen treatment.

  • If hyperbaric technicians leave the hyperbaric room/environment, for any reason, they are responsible for obtaining coverage during their absence.  Both the requesting and covering employee is responsible for the observation and management of the hyperbaric environment and patient safety.

  • Assesses the patient’s condition and nursing needs; sets goals; establishes appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including discharge planning.

  • Directs, and evaluates nursing care provided to patients in the Wound Care Center.

  • Helps coordinate nursing care of patient when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.

  • Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients such as cardiac arrest or other emergencies.

  • Participates in the maintaining a clean and safe environment.

  • Collaborates with staff and peers to create optimal synergy and outcomes.

  • Completes behavioral-based interviewing for all new hires.

  • Participates in 90 day evaluations of new staff, and, completes meaningful annual evaluation of existing staff.

  • Meets regularly with staff to obtain feedback and provide guidance to improve outcomes.

  • Complies with FHWC corrective action process.

  • Establishes and maintains communications and utilizes teaching opportunities with patients, and other significant individuals.

  • Monitors and maintains acceptable compliance with budgets.  Will complete monthly variance report with appropriate action plans.

  • Assists in development of Operating and Capital Budgets.

  • Facilitates patient flow to and from the units.  Validation by decreased LWOT percentage, and acceptable transfer times and daily discharge times.

  • Participates in economical utilization in supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.

  • Participates in quality improvement activities to improve processes and patient care.

  • Implements actions as appropriate based on benchmarks and data specific to the departments.

  • Continually monitors vacancy and turnover rates, to be submitted monthly.  Will implement strategies for staff retention.

  • Complete and submit departmental reports monthly.

  • Demonstrates accountability by taking responsibility for decisions, actions and results.

  • Maintains regulatory agency preparedness.

  • Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital.

  • Identifies and establishes Performance Improvement Initiatives, as well as Chart Audits. Reports to Wound Care Director and Medical Director results of audits including progress of healing or lack of and together develop a plan of action to help move patients along the continuum of healing.

  • Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital.

  • Participates in staff development by ensuring education, advancement of staff skills and certifications.

  • Serve as mentor and advisor to facilitate professional growth for our Wound Center employees.

  • Plans new projects or expansions, including equipment, staffing and space requirements.

  • Works under the direction of the Wound Care Director and Medical Director to oversee, manage, train, and assist nurses and other staff within the department.

  • Works with the Wound Care Director to implement education programs for physicians and the staff regarding wound care.

  • Provides the Wound Care Director with required reports of the departmental status as directed.

  • Contributes to the evaluation process of those employees that report to Clinical Manager.  Provides to the Wound Care Director documents updating employee files as appropriate e.g. BLS Cards

  • Participates in team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans as needed.

  • Conducts departmental in-services for continuing education for the various staff of the department and hospital.

  • Participates in orientation of new personnel. 





•         Managerial experience strong team building skills.

•         Two years of experience in a Wound Treatment Center

•         Incumbents must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities and can explain and demonstrate that she/he can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. 

•         Must have working knowledge of budgets and healthcare finance and leadership capabilities.



  • Strong communication skills verbal and written.

  • Knowledge of Outpatient hospital services.

  • Ability to work closely with physicians and staff.

  • Knowledge of Insurance Authorization.


  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing upon hire

  • Current Florida RN License upon hire

  • Managerial experience strong team building skills.

  • Two years of experience in a Wound Care Treatment Center in a leadership role.




  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field.



  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Florida. If licensed in another state, verification of application for Florida licensure must be submitted within 30 days of hire date.

  • Board Certified in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Care (WOCN) or Certified as Hyperbaric Registerd Nurse (CHRN) or obtain either certification within 12 months of hire date. 

  • BLS upon hire

  • 4 hours Hip and Knee Replacement education within 6 months of hire date, then annually

  • 2 hours Stroke education within 6 months of hire date, then 1 hour annually
