Florida Hospital Ocala opened its doors in 1898 as Marion General Hospital and has been in continuous operation since then. Then in 1928, the hospital was renamed to Munroe Memorial Hospital. Adventist Health System acquired Munroe Regional Medical and renamed it Florida Hospital Ocala in 2018. Florida Hospital - Ocala is situated in the heart of the city, minutes away from a vibrant, growing downtown area. Ocala is situated in the heart of Marion County, Florida and is surrounded by the beautiful rolling pastures that have come to be known as the horse capital of the world. Florida Hospital Ocala is a 425-bed acute-care and offers a variety of services including, 24/7 Emergency Care, Diagnostic Testing, Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery, Women’s Services, and Inpatient and Outpatient Therapy. You will be responsible for:

Collects, analyzes, and summarizes relevant data from the patient and/or medical record, including:
• Anthropometric and laboratory information
• Appetite
• Diet orders
• Nutrition history
• Medications
• Medical concerns
Interprets lab values and estimates nutrient requirements based on:
• Age
• Sex
• Medical condition
• Level of activity
• Completes physician orders in accordance with facility policy. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize patient care according to acuity level and policy.
• Completes comprehensive patient nutritional reassessments, addressing previously identified nutrition-related problems. Collaborates with nursing to complete nutrition screening for all patients within 24 hours of admission.
• Demonstrates dependability, to include attendance and punctuality
• Documents all aspects of patient nutritional services in patient medical record.
• Evaluates appropriateness of enteral nutrition support, including energy, protein, and adequacy of fluid provisions, making necessary recommendations in a timely and professional manner
• Conducts patient education with the patient and family as needed,and evaluates effectiveness of counseling based on objective information. Evaluates the diet prescription relative to diagnosis and recommends changes as appropriate.
• Updates and/or develops nutrition information relevant to current practice theory (e.g., guidelines for care, diet manual revisions, and reference materials)
• Attends all mandatory in-services and staff meetings, readily bringing own ideas and thoughts into the discussion. Provides in-service training programs for hospital personnel, as deemed necessary. Attends professional meetings and conferences to keep informed of current practices and trends. Meets guidelines for continuing education
• Maintains state of art knowledge of area of specialty, healthcare trends and practice, and populations served. Maintains a level of computer literacy appropriate to their role. Meets and maintains current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required.
• Demonstrates ability to assess age/population specific issues for pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients

What will you need:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics required
• Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required
• Registered Dietitian (RD) from the Commission on Dietetic Registration and Florida State Licensure is required; or achieves registration and state licensure within the first six months upon hire.
• Minimum of one (1) year hospital experience preferred, registration-eligible acceptable for generalist position, preferred
• Approved internship/traineeship, preferred
