Job Description

The CIS Intermediate analyst has a deep understanding of clinical information systems related to Cerner RadNet and has the ability to analyze and understand business problems in order to make solution recommendations. They should be able to meet organizational goals of maintaining clinical and business systems dedicated to providing a secure, effective, integrated patient care delivery system that continually improves outcomes, reduces costs, increases efficiency and enhances patients’ experiences. Primary responsibilities include collaborating with clinicians and end users of the system to design, build, test, train, implement, evaluate, and provide maintenance of Cerner RadNet applications.

The CIS Intermediate must have the capability to utilize the knowledge and skills of clinical practice, computer science, and information technology to manage data and determine clinical functions that are suitable to implement to ensure alignment with professional standards of radiologic clinical practice. They are responsible for coordinating with physicians and end users in the analysis and documentation of clinical workflows, performing gap analysis, identifying needed process changes, and developing future workflows related to the implementation of new solutions or functionality. The ability to communicate with all levels of Hospital leadership, clinicians, physicians, and ancillary department staff and is essential for this position.   

• Serve as an active member of the AIT Cerner RadNet Team, dedicated to the development of electronic solutions for radiologic workflow and practices and are aligned with current best practice standards. 
• Collaborates independently with Physicians, Clinicians, and end users Hospital Leadership, vendor and other AIT teams to develop and deploy electronic applications or new functionality with assistance from team members, Application Manager and/or Project Manager. 
• Independently able to perform assessment of clinical workflow processes, identifying gaps, identify needed process changes, and developing future workflows related to the implementation of new solutions or functionality with assistance from Application Manager or team members
• Ability to make recommendations, develop design, build, and test Cerner RadNet application components and make necessary changes using application tools provided by vendor with minimal assistance from Application Manager or Project Manager
Ability to participate and lead vertical team meetings as well as other requested meetings with minimal assistance 
• Logging of issues to assure resolution of Digital Imaging issues associated with assigned projects and Cerner systems. 
• Assist training team in the preparation of training materials and provide education on new applications or functionality. Conducts train-the-trainer, super-user, upgrade and/or other training as required.
• Actively participates in the support of facilities through the implementation, activation and post-live support phases of Digital Imaging projects.
• Demonstrates initiative to put forth additional effort when required by volunteering for additional assignments and test events.
• Independently able to communicate to the Application Manager or Project Manager with a written status report for the schedules, tasks, issues, and overall project status for team initiatives.
• Communicates with users, team members, and Project Manager regarding job status and/or potential problems.
• Actively participates in the development of mentoring of new members to the team as well as those in associate and intermediate positions. 
• Ability to develop meeting materials using standardized templates for meeting agendas and minutes.
• Ability to facilitate, plan, coordinate, and lead special projects using project management skills, tools, and AIT methodologies.   

Education and Certifications

  • College Degree (B.A., B.S. or similar) in a field of study such as business, IS, or Healthcare related area preferred.
  • Participation in ongoing education either formal or through conferences, active professional organization participation, or journal presentations.
  • Attendance of one of the leadership classes offered internally within first year and one each consecutive year
  • Completion of one professional certification within two years and maintenance of certification thereafter
  • Member of one professional organization related to job responsibilities within one year

Knowledge and Experience

  • 1-3 years of Radiology experience highly desired (Cerner RadNet)
  • Experience supporting RIS systems and Cerner RadNet
  • Experience supporting distributed network computing environment
