Florida Hospital Ocala opened its doors in 1898 as Marion General Hospital and has been in continuous operation since then. Then in 1928, the hospital was renamed to Munroe Memorial Hospital. Adventist Health System acquired Munroe Regional Medical and renamed it Florida Hospital Ocala in 2018. Florida Hospital Ocala is a 425-bed acute-care and offers a variety of services including, 24/7 Emergency Care, Diagnostic Testing, Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery, Women’s Services, and Inpatient and Outpatient Therapy. Supervises patient care team for duration of one shift.  Coordinates patient care assignments, evaluates assignments and facilitates patient throughput.
What you will responsible for:
  • Effectively supervises staff and serves as a clinical resource to ensure positive outcomes.
  •  Participates with manager in hiring, coaching, counseling and evaluation processes for staff.
  • Makes patient care assignments each shift based on patient need, staff competency, technology used, available supervision, and support.  Adjusts patient assignments as necessary in response to changes in patient census and unit needs.
  •  Develops staff schedule based on budgeted volumes. Actively seeks ways to minimize use of premium pay.  Anticipates staffing needs.
  • Collaborates with peers to determine distribution of nursing resources and expediate patient throughput.   
  • Actively works to expediate patient throughput and placement by altering patient assignments, assisting with admissions during the admitting process, and facilitation of room preparation.
  • Makes isolation rounds each shift to assure that isolation precautions are necessary and appropriate.  Promptly notifies Infection Prevention Department personnel when needed to assess and resolve problem situations.
  •  Actively participates in bed briefings and collaborates with patient placement (bed control) for effecive patient flow.
  • Facilitates discharge planning process with bedside nurse.
  •  Takes responsibility for achieving objectives that improve unit and organizational quality goals. Works directly with staff to ensure that patient satisfaction meets or exceeds organizational targets.
  •  Makes patient care rounds a minimum of once per shift to assess performance related to quality of care, patient safety and satisfaction, identification of any potential issues and areas of opportunity to improve patient care.
  • Effectively leads frontline staff in professional growth opportunities such as certification in area of specialty and clinical advancement program (CAP).
  • Assesses learning needs of staff and provides timely and accurate feedback to the manager and educator.
  • Addresses physician concerns in a timely manner and works toward a reasonable solution.  Ensures manager is notified and updated as needed. 
What you will need:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
  •  (12) months experience preferred but not required, basic computer skills, excellent human relations and oral/written skills.   
  • At least 3 years RN experience.    
  • Current FL RN License; current BLS. (see attached credentialing grid for additional certification requirements based on specialty and/or role)
