Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time Nights

 

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Performs the job expectations of the Registered Nurse in his / her assigned care area.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and leadership qualities
  • Promotes on the job training of all staff members through coaching, mentoring and evaluation.
  • Facilitates patient management
  • Effectively manages the patient care area by promoting two-way communication
  • Follows the principals of AIDET in all patient and family interactions.
  • Serves as a role model for staff by collaboratively working with the staff and physicians.
  • Coordinates orientation of newly assigned staff with preceptor.  Facilitates clinical experiences to meet orienting employee needs.
  • Assists in data collection for process improvement projects including restraints.
  • Participates in staff meetings and supervisory meeting
Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Mental and emotional stability, demonstrating a courteous and calm approach to all contacts with patients, visitors, and health care team members.
  • Mature judgment and the ability to handle confidential information within Florida Hospital guidelines and applicable regulations.
  • Personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, empathy, understanding, integrity, respect, sense of humor, discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate verbally in English and in written form with persons of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective and professional manner.
  • Ability to learn and apply computer related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices.
  • Minimum of Diploma in Nursing
  • Minimum of One (1) year experience in area of assignment

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED

  • Current Florida RN License
  • BLS – condition of employment
  • ACLS within 12 months of employment or transfer
  • PALS within 12 months of employment or transfer
  • NRP within 12 months of employment or transfer for Lake Placid & Wauchula campuses
  • CPI within 12 months of employment or transfer
  • TNCC/ENPC required within 18 months of employment or transfer
  • ENPC – may elect to replace PALS within 18 months of employment or transfer

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED

  • NIMS training:  modules 100, 200 700, & 800 within 18 months of employment or transfer
  • Basic Critical Care course within 12 months of employment or transfer

 

Job Summary:

The Charge Nurse is an RN assigned a specific unit who assists with responsibilities for the coordination of patient care using a multidisciplinary approach in accordance with the Hospital's Mission, physician, and patient expectations. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to policy implementation, giving input into staffing patterns, maintaining supplies and equipment, participating in process improvement projects and staff development programs to ensure delivery of quality care.  If the situation arises, the Charge Nurse self-assigns patients based on patient acuity, staffing mix and the ability to perform primary and secondary responsibilities of a Charge Nurse.
