Biomedical Manager - Biomedical Engineering - Orlando

AdventHealth Orlando seeks to hire Biomedical Manager who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.



Facility Profile:

Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.

7a-3:30p; M-F



Job Summary:

Under moderate supervision, the Biomedical Manager oversees the lead technicians and technicians in the overall operations of the Biomedical Department. Responsible for maintaining hospital compliance with regulatory agencies including DNV, AHCA, etc. Interacts and communicates appropriately with others to offer accurate and timely information and service in trouble-shooting and problem solving capacity. Manages work and processes within span of control and regularly operates under deadlines and may be subject to extreme workloads. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.



Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Working knowledge of theory, operation, and repair of medical equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge and ability to understand departmental goals.
  • Ability to assess and identify departmental opportunities associated with the use of technology/automation.
  • Ability to supervise the activities of staff to meet deadlines and resolve problems.
  • Ability to logically read and comprehend technical manuals and instructions.
  • Self-motivated, requiring moderate management supervision.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ten years working experience in the Clinical Engineering field.
  • Associate’s degree or two years concentrated training/education in Biomed, Electronics Technology, or Computer Science related field; or equivalent formal military training in Biomed, Electronics, or Computer Science related field.


Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

  • Biomedical Certification, such as, CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician), CRES (Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist), or CLES (Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialist).  (Preferred)


Job Responsibilities:

  • Works with Purchasing and other departments managing equipment recall requests.
  • Ensures that performance measures of the team are met or exceeded (i.e., timely completion of work orders).
  • Manages and oversees projects, equipment installations, equipment de-installations, and equipment moves.
  • Develops policies, procedures, and test documentation for medical equipment and systems.
  • Develops and implements departmental goals and objectives.
  • May oversee repairs in patient rooms and may speak with patient in a non-clinical manner.
