What you will be responsible for: 

  • Responsible for oversight of all aspects of outpatient practice operations for assigned service lines and/or practices and supporting the Directors and managers in assigned practices.
  • Involved in, or may drive, strategic planning around assigned service lines or practices.
  • Develop and work with division service line leaders to ensure communication and processes flow between the hospitals and FHPG
  • Understands and applies management information, concepts and principles necessary to address a broad range of medical practice tasks in the following areas:  Financial Management, planning and marketing, risk management, business and clinical operations.
  • Identifies and makes recommendations and courses of action for improvement for FHPG processes.
  • Responsible for Care Navigation as it relates to the FHPG Access Center and Referral Center.  Drives strategic planning and decisions in these functional areas. Works in collaboration with the FHPG VP Operations for overall Care Navigation for FHPG.
  • Member of the FHPG Cabinet (senior leadership team)
  • Is the key driver in managing the policy and procedure process within FHPG. The AVP is on the Finance and Operations subcommittee of the Network Operating Council (physician governance).
  • Supports employee engagement and is accountable for Press Ganey survey results and action plans for improvement for assigned service lines and practices.
  • Manages and leads special projects within the Physician Group.
  • Promotes the philosophy, mission and vision and culture of Florida Hospital and Adventist Health system to employees, patients, and other contacts outside the facility.
  • Provides for a safe and complete environment for the delivery of patient care through operational processes and protocols, practice rounds, inventory control, and equipment checks of assigned service lines and practices. Corrects any known deficiencies.
  • Maintains effective relationship and open communication with patients, families, management, staff, contractors’ insurance companies and the outside community.
  • Motivates leadership of assigned service lines and practices and organizes day-to-day activity of department.
  • Exercises a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve organization objectives.
  • Works with the Manager of Revenue Cycle Management to ensure practice reimbursement for his/her respective services lines and practices is appropriate.
  • Responsible for supporting Directors in the recruitment, selection, orientation, evaluation of staff and dismissal, with the exception of employed physicians.  Works with Director of Operations and Shared Services on the corrective action process and dismissal of staff.
  • Reviews monthly financial performance for assigned practices and makes recommendations for improvements to their respective Director and physicians/providers.
  • Keeps abreast of changes within the organization and implements procedures, policies and practices as needed in assigned practices.
  • Ensures medical records are maintained with respect to patient confidentiality, security, completeness and timeliness. Ensures practices follow HIPPA and security regulations for assigned service lines and practices.
  • Uses progressive coaching and counseling to develop or discipline employees as necessary.
  • Researches and prepares reports, presentations as needed.
  • Demonstrates a positive customer service attitude/behavior. Maintains open communication with hospital departments, referring physicians, and staff physicians.  Participates in and fosters an approach to continuously improving quality that includes both intra-departmental and inter-departmental activities.

Qualifications
What you will need: 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Master’s degree in health administration, business administration, other relevant field or equivalent experience.
    • 10 years’ experience in medical group practice environment.
    • Proficient experience in compliant coding guidelines, reimbursement procedures, medical records management, and effective practice operations.
    • Practical knowledge and experience in working with practice management software systems with the ability to direct workflow in order to optimize operations.
    • Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
    • Experience with budgetary finance and accounting skills with regards to practice management and operations.
