You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Provides leadership, support and participation in designated meetings.
  • Maintains safe environments through strict enforcement of all Infection Control policies.
  • Implements hospital standards related to staffing, budget compliance and HHPD.
  • Monitors bedside reports, hourly rounding, 3-2-1’s and hand-off communication standards.
  • Implements and monitors fall reduction initiatives.
  • Monitors Rapid Response team program.
  • Implements core curriculum and competency validation through ALN on assigned units.
  • Attends and summarizes assigned corporate and regulatory meetings and communicates information to clinical leaders as applicable.
  • Implements significant corporate clinical initiatives as directed by and in collaboration with CNO.
  • Cooperates in the formulation of policies and practices established by the hospital administrators/CNO. Defines and interprets policies as needed.
  • Plans with Medical Staff and Department heads for coordination of services and activities in collaboration with Medical Chiefs and CNO.
  • Conducts Leaders’ Rounding on pts and staff as prescribed.
  • Ensures monthly presence on night shift.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings that are accessible to all shifts with CNO in attendance twice/yr.
  • Focuses on responsibilities for employee engagement on assigned units.
  • Develops charge nurses into a clinically and administratively effective team on assigned units.
  • Develops a solid working relationship with the executive Team.
  • Provides ongoing assessment and feedback of performance for all clinical employees on assigned units.
  • Focuses on controlling costs and reviewing budgets monthly on assigned units and alerting CNO to variances.
  • Keeps the hospital administrator/CNO informed of plans, equipment, systems,policies and procedures.
  • Meets CMS and The Joint Commission requirements on assigned units and assists housewide as needed.
  • Develops a working relationship with professional organizations and groups and acts in leadership capacities.
  • Represents the hospital to professional community groups and actively participates within and outside the hospital to promote its reputation, educational and research activities related to the quality of services.
  • Develops standardization between all IP units with daily processes/worksheets/tools in order to promote ability of staff and leads to float with ease.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Master’s degree
  • Three years of nursing management experience over multiple units in an acute care setting.
  • Current BLS
  • Current registration with Florida State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure by endorsement

Job Summary:

Responsible to the Chief Nursing Officer for the administrative oversight, coordination and management of Nursing Services Department.  The AVP of Nursing Services is responsible for organizing and administering the Department of Clinical Services at the hospital and implementing standards of care, policies, programs and procedures as established by the company. Responsibilities of the AVPNS/NO include ensuring timely, accurate and complete documentation, ensuring all clinical regulatory requirements are being met, and responsibility for employee engagement, recruitment and retention.

The Assistant Vice President of Nursing Services is recognized as a key management and leadership position within the hospital organization.  This position assumes responsibility in translating the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital to the Patient Care Services division and implementing effective actions.  Responsibility is centralized into four major areas:  patient care management, personnel management, education and unit management. The AVP of Nursing Services has delegated authority for the respective areas and departments:  Contracted services, nurse manager and team leaders.
