You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Construction: The Planning, Design and Construction Manager will be FHT’s primary representative on the construction team, responsible for monitoring construction progress and schedules, reviewing all materials submitted for approval, reviewing and approving, with the project owners and representatives modifications to a new or existing space or replacement of major and minor equipment
  • Maintenance and Operations (M+O) facility design and construction:  The Planning, Design and Construction Manager will be responsible for managing the contracted design Architect and working with the Architect of Record, contracted Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing engineers on all aspect of development of FHT facilities.
  • Capital Improvements:  Collaborating with FHT’s facility operations staff to design solutions to ongoing issues or new operation’s needs, including all capital projects to support programs, special projects and future expansion of programs and services.
  • Planning:  Including construction feasibility studies, planning strategy, design and planning presentations, and community engagement.
  • Design Presentations to FHT department leaders and executives, FHT board members, representatives of City agencies, and community partners, including preparations of all supporting graphic materials and data.
  • Primary liaison between FHT leaders in upfront scope and budget /schedule development/ team selection with contracted services C-Suite and AVP's. Will provide monthly report to the Administrative Director of Facilities on project development and finance or as requested by other leaders of the organization.
  • Ultimately responsible for projects being delivered on budget and schedule. Ensure that risks are being properly managed either contractually or purchased products or services insuring FHT is getting good business terms. Responsible for legal and contractual issues related to project delivery. Ensure we have an ethical and transparent working relationship with our vendors.
  • Holding staff accountable.  Provide mentoring and direct guidance to newer and less experienced staff. Develop programs tailored to professional development.
  • Continually seeking methods to improve on past performances through innovation and challenging assumptions.
  • Knowledge of the different departments in a hospital or Acute and the unique requirements for each department need.


Qualifications

What You Will Need:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Strong leadership skills; specific design process/leadership experience, specific construction implementation experience, construction development experience, code and permit knowledge, negotiating skills, strong interpersonal skills to lead vendors, and solid business decision making skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and at least 5 years of experience in the fields of planning, architecture, and engineering or construction management. At least 5 years of Experience in managing major improvements on existing healthcare facilities. 
  • MBA, MHA, Master’s Degree
  • PE or Registered Architect is preferred

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Administrative Director of Facilities Management, the Manager for Planning, Design and Construction is responsible for managing a variety of projects related to the ongoing and future, planning, design and construction of the Florida Hospital Tampa and associated facilities, in all phases of the project from conceptual to construction development. This position is intended to support all physical plant construction, renovation, restoration, and major repair programs at any facility associated with FHT operations. This position is a specialist in building systems and construction methods specifically in a health care environment. This position develops concepts and plans for facility growth or change in service as well as capital upkeep and replacement. The key role of this position is advisor to each individual facility-managing director to assist in growth planning as it relates to buildings and facility campus. The manager of planning, design and construction will represent Florida Hospital Tampa to other City or State Agencies as needed.
