Human Resources Consultant – Human Resources – Apopka

Florida Hospital Apopka seeks to hire a Human Resources Consultant who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.



Facility Profile:

The newly opened Florida Hospital Apopka is a seven-story, 120-bed hospital offering an extensive range of services including expanded surgical services, advanced surgical suites and a catheterization lab. The hospital also features a 30,000-square-foot emergency department with pediatric-friendly beds, imaging services, a full-service cafeteria, chapel, gift shop and on-site fire station. The hospital opened in December 2017, replacing the 50-bed hospital that Florida Hospital had operated in downtown Apopka for more than four decades.



Work Hours/Shifts:

Monday – Friday; 8am – 5pm



Job Summary:

The Human Resources (HR) Consultant is responsible for providing a proactive, practical, and valued HR perspective in partnership with campus leadership. The HR Consultant supervises the application of established HR policies and serves as a consultant to management on HR related issues including, but not limited to employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and benefits administrations, organizational development, training and special projects. The HR Consultant serves as an employee champion and change agent. The HR Consultant actively practices outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.



Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • Working knowledge of a variety of HR disciplines, including employee relations, compensation, performance management, HR analytics and employee engagement
  • Effective communicator, with strong professional and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop cohesive solutions, diagnose issues, and influence and guide all levels of management
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant work in HR, Business, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, diversity, performance management, and federal/state respective employment laws
  • Master’s degree preferred in HR, Organizational Development, or related field (preferred)
  • Healthcare experience (preferred)
  • 3 years’ HR Generalist experience (preferred)


Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

  • Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Certified Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) (preferred)


Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports organizational growth by being a champion for change. Provides guidance for front line leaders, managers and team members to include but not limited to coaching, counseling, career development, policy interpretation and application. Establishes relationships in order to work as trusted partner and advisor to campus leadership. Maintains open communication in order to execute programs, services and solutions to enable campuses to successfully meet their goals.
  • Partners with hiring managers to forecast staffing needs reviewing regular attrition rates, new business plans and potential retirements. Collaborates with leadership to implement organizational strategy in areas such as performance management and talent development.
  • Collaborates and supports Florida Hospital’s sequential steps of Patient Experience, including High-Solid-Low and leader rounding on employees. Trains and coaches leaders on styles and behaviors that improve employee productivity and engagement.
  • Analyzes HR metrics to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve employee engagement, performance, retention, and employee experience.
  • Provides guidance to leaders in the administration and interpretation of compensation policy, assuring consistent administration throughout the campus.
  • Partners with HR colleagues to implement and administer policies and programs covering compensation, benefits, employee relations, payroll, talent management, talent acquisition, and retention.
  • Consults with management and employees to respond to and resolve employee relations issues.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions, and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Plans and coordinates campus and employee events and reunions.
  • Coaches managers on a variety of questions regarding HR processes and practices. Provides HR education and training – (i.e. Action Behavioral Interview (ABI), campus orientation, performance management).
