You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Designs, establishes and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff.
  • Maintains positive relations acting as liaison to ensure collaboration across multiple campuses and disciplines including the corporate offices in West Florida Division and AdventHealth.
  • Exercises independent decision-making processes to identify, plan and execute goals.
  • Oversight of multimillion billable tests per year laboratory business.
  • Directs and oversees the operations of all West Florida Division campuses and AIC laboratories in all specialties, LIS, POCT, QA/PI, Safety/Regulations and lab education.

  • Provides an environment that is conducive for the implementation of all regulatory rules and laws, and AdventHealth’s Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Follows and enforces adherence of staff to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies; protects confidentiality of patient information and results always.
  • Ensures the successful continuance and enforcement of all laboratory accreditation and regulatory standards, rules and guidelines.
  • Oversight of all accreditation requirements of College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), DNV, Joint Commission or other accreditation entities for all laboratories.
  • Prepares and executes an operating budget that ensures appropriate staffing, professional development, space, supplies and equipment necessary for improving and maintaining the quality of services.


Qualifications

What You Will Need:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biologic Science, Healthcare or Business Administration, or Leadership
  • Four (4) years Laboratory leadership, with oversight of a multi-hospital laboratory
  • Six (6) years of Laboratory experience 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Master’s degree in a Chemical or Biologic Science, Healthcare or Business Administration, or Leadership
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience preferred in an acute care and Outreach Laboratory. Operational improvement that impacts patient care and experience, related to hospital wide throughput efficiencies.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Licensed by State of Florida at Clinical Laboratory Supervisor level
  • Nationally certified as Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent term

Job Summary:

The Divisional Director of Laboratory has oversight of all Laboratory functions from regulatory to strategic planning for the Acute Care Services (ACS) hospitals, hospital-based ED and outpatient laboratories and outreach responsibilities. Provides overall leadership and management for the Laboratory department. Has oversight of staffing, equipment acquisition and maintenance, service, quality and departmental policies and procedures. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
